Triple M's League insider Brent Read has revealed the Parramatta Eels are set to extend the contracts of two key players.

"Parramatta initially only offered him (Michael Jennings) the one-year but it looks like he'll get the two years he wants at Parramatta," Ready told Triple M Saturday NRL.

"Brad Takairangi is another guy who is off-contract at the end of this year and it looks like he will sign a new deal there as well.

"A couple of big signings for the Eels as they head towards the finals."

  • LOL key re-signings??   Jennings should cop the year and fuck off.  Taka wouildn't make the top 17 of any of the top sides in the comp.

    • Al, in my opinion, Jennings is a key signing. We have two strike wingers and strike centre in Blake. Jennings provides experience and is one of the best defensive centres in the game.

His presence on and off the field can't be underestimated, he may not have the speed and flare he once did, but he’s no slug either, he hasn’t lost much.

He’s one of two players in our squad who know what it takes to win a premiership. Every club needs seasoned veterans in big games.

        • Joseph...my pet turtle could outrun Jennings.

I am aware his Defense is good, but the bloke is slow, too slow to be a NRL centre.

He has been relying on those around him for speed for too long.

          • He's still got it over 40 metres Grunts. That's all he needs to be effective in defence and threaten the line.

            • No, he was. He’s not now and we just don’t see those fast darts up field from him any more. He is very slow.

              • Perhaps since his return from injury, he looks like he's carrying a bit more weight since his return.

Older players take more time to find their fitness after injury, especially injuries that restrict running.

                • Exactly. He didn’t look slow earlier in the year when he scored a blistering try against the tigers. Give him a chance to get back to full fitness ffs

                    • Maybe, its the HAIR on his face that is slowing MJ down, and needs a nap at critical times!   Not!

    • Ummm, I thought we was one of the top sides in the comp

      • Egg, I have no idea what you are saying, I'm not fluent in Jibber.
