Rd 5 Pre-Game Stats Blog

Another week, another pre-game stats blog. Whilst the overall record against the Raiders doesn't look too shabby, the record in Canberra is abysmal and always has been. With the stats against us, can the Eels get the job done?

  • Brett Kenny never scored against the Raiders...wow!

    • And Sterlo is the only Eels player to have kicked a field goal against them! Obviously games between the two sides never finish that close.

    • The man was great but not even he could score against everyone.

  • Haha, no, they don't.

Some huge wins for both sides since they've been playing each other from 1982. Literally blow-outs.

  • That is astounding. I don't reckon there would be many other clubs if any who Kenny didn't score against.

    • I'm about halfway through the Rd 11 stats at the minute (Bunnies game) and from memory, he has scored every other team but.

  • Interestingly, we had 4 years away from Parramatta (82 - 85) and only 2 games were played at Belmore, our home ground back then. One was played at Campbelltown. Didn't we play every club twice back then? How come we missed out on a home game one of the years (either 83 or 84)?

  • Canberra has cut us down the last couple of years.

2014 last game of the season down at GIO all we had to do was win a game as Broncos had lost and Warriors weren't going to win and we capitulated. Copped it from their fans the whole game down there. I was 3/4ers pissed by half time so didn't mind coping a serve.

2015 last game of the season at home, golden point. That ball that didn't go 10m off the kick off but fecking Ryan Morgan decided he had to touch it before it stopped moving, then Raiders score a try straight after.

2016 game at GIO, Leading by a couple of trys, then Raiders got kissed on the pen and beat us convincingly.

I'll be down at GIO this Saturday afternoon. Hoping for a repeat of our early game against them last season, where we clicked and Semi and Jenning absolutely tore Leipana and Austin to shreds.

    • Yes, the recent track record against them is quite poor and correlates with our poor record in Canberra overall.

  • Yep, that was my bad, guys.

I didn't add in the final game at Belmore, the 19-6 victory.
