  • Well if Manu is out this week and Peats also, someone will have to step up in the tackling department.

    • IDG noted defender - will cover most of Peats' usual workload there.
I feel that Gower will provide solid cover for Ma'u for this week.
I don't feel that we can cover Ma'u's enthusiasm though - his involvement.
    • Looks like both are out, so I'd imagine that the likes of Beau Scott and Kaysa Pritchard will take on the defensive burden.

  • Great stats Ricky. Interesting that Cowboys made more metres than us in most departments. One area we had over them was kick returns which shows a willingness to chase kicks and work hard as a team unit. It certainly an area where we have struggled in the past.
    • Cheers, Wayne.
      They did.
The Cowboys forwards really got a roll on us in every way. They've got one of the best forward packs in the entire league.

We certainly have some players that work hard in terms of preparing themselves to run back before and after kicks, to get the most out of a play which is encouraging.

  • It is only for one week given Ma'u has taken the early plea, so it won't be the end of the world.
It just means Kenny Edwards probably starts and he has just as much enthusiasm as a player.

    • Bugger, was hoping Ma'u would contest and get off.

By stats summary Cowboys beat us in almost every stat but got beaten and only scored their last try late in the match.

      • Probably wasn't worth it.
One week he's out, back in Rd 4.

Their forward pack sets the benchmark for the rest of the competition and their players run a LOT from dummy half, more so than we do.

    • An advantage also is that by taking the 1 week it may take care of most of his carry over points at the same time.  Still a lose just the same.

The stats are a bit surprising in that given we got the better of the scrums & penalty counts, we were not a bit more attacking than it shows, which does give credit to the Cows defence.

While only a short stint (again) on the paddock the stats of Pritchard are quite good, I would like to see him thown in a bit earlier in the game, maybe a good foil when Kasiano goes on the paddock as he tires could run a smaller & faster player like Pritchard at his edges.

  • Yeah, 8 tackles. A fair few.
He usually has around the 3-4 mark, so reading that he missed 8 tackles surprised even myself.
