RCG vs Rapana knees.

RCG missing has been massive factor in parra season and his recent suspension for knees killed an already dying  season.

What I can't understand is how Rapana didn't even get a fine for leading with knees and leg towards players head at end of first half vs Melbourne. Link to clip is below.   He only got cited for a trip earlier in the game.

He did get a fine for the trip, but if knees are classified Dangerous Contact would be his 4th Offence due to tripping in same game and would have been looking at decent suspension.  His was lot more dangerous than RCG lazy effort falling on knees and wasn't RCG greater then grade 1.

Fox sports addressed it but other media have been very quiet about Rapana as Ricky has plenty of media mates.  BA and club really need to rethink how we react to referee and match review decisions.

  • The more I think about this club the more I realise how disliked we truly are in the media and NRL at large.

We obviously need to make some improvements on the field and in the coaching ranks, recruitment etc but what we really need to look at is somehow improving our image within the NRL and media.

Do we hire some people who can change our image and improve our media narratives??

Might not sound important but in this modern day NRL competition every single advantage counts and we could do worse than hiring a media manager that all and sundry like to suck off - IMO it would help our cause with the draw, the judiciary and generally pressure the right voices in the game for a fair shake.

Look at the more influential clubs, they all have the media and NRL in their pockets by using the media and influencers cleverly - let's invest heavily in this area and watch our fortunes change.

    • I agree about better media relations manager to try and turn around media perception but a better run club with people of influence is more important amd needs to be implemented first.  Our front office doesnt have anyone that warrents respect from media or nrl.

We need someone the current nrl media like as head of football or CEO.  Someone like Frank Ponissi, Peter Parr, brian fletcher (panthers).  I'm not saying we can get them as they probably wouldn't touch parra with the club politics involved, but we need explore these type of options.  Even though he is a dickhead even Gould would have influence in this area although some small pockets of media dislike him, he still gets respect for the club he is at.

Some of the media agendas go back to the board faction days where certain journalists aligned with 1 group or another with classic example being Hadley.  Those negative agendas against the club will never ease up unless their mates gain control of the club again which isnt any good for the club.

Sterlo was in media but wasn't the type of person to call people out for bullshit opinions and agendas.  Hindy is in media now but is only there so others can laugh and make jokes at his expense so we lack representation

    • I said something similar a couple of weeks ago Frank -  The club should be on a constant PR campaign trying to manipulate the NRL to make decisions in our favour. The Roosters in particular do this very well. That's the yardstick we should be aiming for;…"
