I don't get the excitement of campbell Gillard. As someone who has watched a lot of Panthers Games this season (my dad is a member sadly) he does absolutely nothing to justify the hype. Sitting in the stands at Panthers games I can tell you their fans would love to see the back of him. Overrated and overpaid is the general consensus. 5 more years at $800k! We would be better off resigning Timmy with his long term player discount he would cost next to nothing on the cap.
Compare his stats with Mannah this year and justify the hype to me. He is not the player he once was. No where near it.
(Figures taken from NRL.Com player profiles)
Despite playing almost 15 minutes longer a game on average, he makes only 3 metres more a game.
He averages less metres per run.
He averages less post contact metres per run.
Less offloads per game.
Granted he makes more tackles per game but if you break it down to output per minute the difference is minimal and Timmy has a better tackle efficiency.

The key is getting into his head and removing the demons that have taken over since the two jaw breaks . Massive injuries and confidence zapping . He has great leg speed and aggression when on his game .
You think of the RCG of 2017-2018 and it is a yes from me .
I also am not overly convinced with signing him either.
He isn't putting in, it's that simple. Clearly Cleary doesn't get on with him. He is off the bus. Gould signed him to this ridiculous contract. Etc etc. So ya for us.
Watch him thrive once out.
I agree, his form doesn't warrant the hype nor his price tag. I can't remember the last time he had a perceivable impact on a game.
However, I don't think all is rosey between Ivan and RCG, or RCG and the Panthers generally. A new change of scenery can fix his mental state, and he may be taking time to get over his jaw injury too.
He is still young and offers a whole lot more than Mannah when firing. It's a yes from me.
While I agree RCG hasn’t been that good this year, maybe a change of scenery will bring him back to his best..
You don’t think that he may just have been on the outer since Ivan came on board out there, knows it and his heart just isn’t in it?
We’ve all seen how good he is at club and rep level. The chances are better than not that a new club / start and he will be right up there again. I think signing him is a great opportunity, particularly not having to pay anywhere near 800k.
I guess the question is how much, RCG is a 800k player when in the form of 2017 and 2018, in 2019 maybe 500k.
Hope we get Christan Welch, before RCG.
Or hypothetically...Ivan left with the mess of fixing up their cap and has to find a way out. some big contracts in the Penrith camp and just had to be a correction to keep them under cap.
Wasn’t DWZ rumoured to be on a 800k, RCG 800k, not sure about Waqa, Tamou 750k that’s a fair bit that was tied up there alone. Makes one wonder how they squeezed em all in under cap for start of this year??
of course it could be all just bs that the players they want to offload were not actually on these huge contracted amounts I guess?
Form is temporary but class that's permanent. Dont forget, Mannahs stats are when we dominated the opposition's packs. He rarely played against teams that have dominated us.
Totally agree, this would be a long term blunder of a signing, short term blunder too.
Another Justin Poore all be it not as bad as Poore but very overrated.
