You wont find it on the SMH online newspaper, but on page 48, in a side column is a short bit of news regarding Canberra's drive for players next year.
Heading the bit, was that their coach IS after Corey Norman, if its a rumour then it perhaps is confirmation in the print media of rumoured speculation. They are after Corey on a "3 year deal, and is one of a number of players linked to the club"" One of a number of players linked to the club""
Of as much interest though is the bit says, that the article has also said that the coach has asked the players who are off contract end of this year, to commit one way or another during this coming week as to whether they are staying. There are 17 players off contract.
It also says that they are interested in Ah Mou from STG, Storm prop Tim Glasby, they are also looking to England for players to compliment Hodson.
None of the Canberra off contract players are named in the article.

My take on this is that RS and the mob down there are getting worried about which of their squad is or has signed elsewhere but wanting to not reveal it to their outburst boss, and it would seem that more than one of the team is looking to go elsewhere, maybe also that with the news re Jnr, that is the catalyst for wanting to know.
All Sticky has confirmed is that they are after a player from another club on a 3 year deal, no mention of who it is.
Brett, have you got out of bed yet? and put your glasses on?
I have no need to post something and quote from a newspaper article that is a lie, as you imply. The simple fact is, and while the SMH I get of a weekend is a rural edition rather than the Sydney Metropolitan edition, therefore is often a bit difference between the two editions, I will now quote word for word the leading part of the article, as found on Page48 in the SPORT League page.
Canberra Raiders coach Ricky Stuart, floated a recruit on a three year deal with Parramatta eels star half Corey Norman, one of a number of players linked with the club.
Now you might like to play a game as you often do with words, such as mentioned here Floated, and as I put it, the name of Corey Norman IS mentioned. Thing is that Corey's name has now been linked in the printed media as being one who they want, further down the article also mentions the year 2019, & beyond, being when these linked players are wanted.
Also in the article is the names Blake Austin and Adam Seizer, this whole article is based on the need for them to have some cleanout and who to keep, and likely those who are wanting to stay.
So, just to confirm and re-affirm that sitting right in the front of me as I type this reply is today's SMH and Corey's name is mentioned, before any others.
Thanks for sharing this info Colin. Says a lot.
Colin I seen the same article that Brett is quoting I think it was in NRL.com. I think maybe Brett is responding to Mack. In his post he is identifying a conflict of statements between the SMH article and previous media statements by the Raiders.
As I said you have to think that the SMH article does have some legs.
Norman would go absolutely stir crazy in Canberra. The world’s most boring town and party boy Norman?? What a disaster.
Due to the lock out laws in sydney, the night life in canberra craps on sydney.
i recently did a 4 week stint for work in canberra. They have no limits on drinks ordered per person, you can go in and out of a club and return with no problems, and no lock out laws.
norman would love it there
Some people need to spend some time in Canberra these days. Wall to wall women, the most relaxed liquor lic in the country and more. Farkin revelation going into Civic at night
Notwithstanding all of that I am at a point where I don't have a view on Norman anymore. At his best he is an assert to the team but he has not been at his best since 2016. There was an improvement last week but I believe he is still a long way shuttle of his best.
The coaching staff at the club are closer to the facts than me so I guess I have to rely on them to make the call. He will only leave if we don't want him
John, I was a bit reticent in posting this blog but, felt it was needed to be posted, as I just replied to Brett, we get the Early/Rural edition up here same as you would on the CC, the article is definitely there but may not be in later editions, likewise the fact that Corey's name has been mentioned.
Like you I am no longer that fussed regarding what direction takes place with Corey, and on his day he is good, so will be watching tomorrow hopeful of the Corey at his best will run on the paddock. He still has a year to run on his contract end of 2018 but with the way things work these days anything is likely.
