Radical methods to return from injury earlier

Is an ACL injury in Round 12 really season ending? What if we make the finals or even grand final? Is it still too soon?.. Do different people recover quicker than the norm?..I remember Luke Covell had stem cell surgery instead of a reconstruction and if I'm not mistaken and came back in about 10 or 11 weeks? Is this something the eels should look at?

  • Worth the risk?  Probably not worth it to Peats so early in his career.

Players like Tonga undergo transplant surgery to prolong their career.  Players like Stapleton undergo strange methods because they have recurring issues.

Can't see a player like Peats, who is young and has never had issues before risking it, to be honest.

  • Let it go dude.... Just let it go.
  • If reports were right that Peats was playing through other niggling injuries then you would want him to get em all right first. Imagine him playing injury free, he would be performing even better than he was for us.

  • Pretty sure Covell had artificial ligaments. It meant he returned sooner, not sure if it effected his longevity

  • I know in dogs you can replace the ACL with a wire, not sure about methods used in humans.
  • Covell had artificial ligaments. Short-term the rehabilitation is quicker. Long term, the new ligaments don't last as long as the traditional reconstructive technique. Covell had the artificial ones inserted because he was retiring. Peats has another 10 years to go.

  • Peptides may be the answer.
  • It's not the injury itself that will be keeping him out, it's that playing he is at risk of other knee related injuries because of the instability in his knee. It's definitely not something peats would want to risk.
    • Also a danger of doing the other knee as he compensates.
