R WE KIDDING OURSELVES?

The Ox was too slow when he was with the Sea Eagles & I expect that he isn't any quicker in the UK. He is a has been at the end of his career. If we r unable to recruit a reasonable class half then I believe we should give our new recruit a go. Don't forget, we still have Tom Humble as well as Robson & Morts, so we do have options & SK should manage them more effectually than DA.

  • Well that has been your talking about won a comp with manly 2 years ago..
  • Ox is far better than what we have, great player IMO and i'd be wrapped with him
  • I rate Orford, he is a great experienced halfback, It would be great to have him.
  • I would love orford over here to take our young halves under his wing
  • .........no we are not Michael

Many people laughed at me last year when the Kimmorley rumours circulated in the offseason, they laughed and scoffed that an experienced number 7 with an astute kicking game and the ABILITY to add some STRUCTURE to the undisciplined rabble that Parramatta was becoming was NO USE at Parramatta........I disagreed

Just like how ORFORD with his astute kicking game and the ABILITY to add some STRUCTURE to the undisciplined rabble that Parramatta HAS become - will ALSO ADD little or no value

I personally disagree - even an aging and slower Orford still has pretty good FOOTY IQ along with another ingredient sadly missing from Parra - and that is ON FIELD leadership - anybody that suggests that Hindmarsh makes a great ON FIELD captain does not understand what an ON FIELD GENERAL does - Hindmarshes inability (and confession) that Parra hardly carried out Daniel Andersons game plans in season 2010 PROVES BEYOND DOUBT that Hindmarsh cannot rally his troops and to ALTER their playing style - especially while under pressure

I am NOT suggesting that Hindmarsh DOES NOT ADD on field leadership - HE DOES - but his style, like Cayless is leading through a high EFFORT or WORK RATE - what Hindmarsh lacks is COMMUNICATION skills and also cannot LIFT a team through his play - like a PLAYMAKER can - playmakers use KICKS, RUNS and PASSES to influence games and to LIFT players around them.....Hindmarsh is now a tackling machine, his on field EFFORT is so HIGH each week that there is no room left to ADD that little bit extra to make team mates LIFT......Hindy averages 40+ tackles each week....where Parra misses Hindmarsh is when he is NOT playing eg St G v Parra in 2009 last round - Parra loses by 30 points.....the following week, Parra plays St G and trounces them with Hindy back in the team.

IN CONTRAST - Orford's footy IQ and leadership ability DOES offer alot more HELP when Parra's tendancy to play undisciplined footy

You see, not only does Parra LACK a play maker in the halves, Parra also has NO, NONE, NADDA kicking game that pressures opposing defense.....and Parra has VERY POOR on field leadership............this is why an INEXPERIENCED half is not the answer for Parra NEXT YEAR

Parra has enough talent in the forward and OUT WIDE to score points.....Parra is missing the GLUE that only an EXPERIENCED half can bring

Laugh if you like.....just like MISSING OUT on Kimmorley was a DISASTER....so too will be MISSING OUT on Orford, or ANY other half back of similar ability.........I don't know if you have noticed, but FINDING a proper number 7 is VERY HARD to find and it would be foolish to turn down ANY such player IF WE HAVE THE CHANCE to get them....SEASON 2010 PROVES beyond any doubt just how much a proper NUMBER 7 or 6 is needed - RIGHT NOW

........without any doubt having a PLAYMAKER in the NUMBER 6 or 7 jersey is the MOST influential and important position in todays modern game....while HAYNE may go to 6 or stay at fullback - a PLAYMAKER at 7 that can AT LEAST provide an attacking kicking game is URGENT !!!!
  • Jason Taylor was too slow and passed his best (according to the "experts") in 2001 when we picked him up, but look what it did for us. We had a team full of young guns for the previous 3 seasons but we lacked the direction to execute when needed. Add an experienced halfback and we dominated, breaking the all time point scoring and try scoring records along the way. Sure we didn't win the comp, but don't let the result of 1 game mask the influence a good halfback made on our team.
Orford's job is not to be quick, we have plenty of players that are tasked with that responsibility, he just needs to put it all together. Morts and Humble are good players, however at this stage in their career they just need someone to take the reigns so they can develop their game.
  • robson has been offered a contract in the super league ,he will be released if the eels get a decent half back.
i ask why dont we use brad murray, hes a gun player, why use him in the toyota cup again, maybe hes the future.
look sk will be the one i guess to have the say, maybe you will see humbal a star, morts gun them again, and even murray.
loko ect, maybe you will see guys live again with renewed vigor and interest, we here one thing with sk and brad arthur.
the eels will have to train harder, and play tougher, or they are out.
guys mateo 10 kgs over weight, and told the world hes regret was not training hard enough with the eels, whos to blame for that shit, trainers and coaches, parra will run better under the new duo i think, i think we should turf ossie too, hes useless.
hes a head line act, who's got us nothing in big names to date, the guy who can get us top players maybe sk.
  • Remeber the old adage Michael.

The cunningness and guile of OLD AGE will always outsmart the brash exhuberance of youth.

Orford has more to offer the Eels than most people could ever imagine.
  • We are not after him for his speed, we need him for experience and direction. Its a mentoring role for the future halves in our club.
He will see it as a feather in his cap as well. Especially if he can take us to a premiership????
  • Pretty hard to use Brad Murray in NYC when he turns 21 next year
