Question not been answered

Heaps have called for BA's head, I'm on the side of what's the point as he is here in 2024. But on top of that not one person has said who they bring in.

  • We can try Ryan Carr

    • He is a name that i didn't think of that i would be fine with actually. I work with someone who's wife is the aunty of Ryan Carr (He is her nephew), once he found out i was an Eels fan he told me this stuff. He said that Carr went to Parramatta in 2020 with the promise that he would eventually take over from BA, 2021 or 2022 was meant to be it and BA was to move into another role i think and in 2022 he extended til 2024, Carr got annoyed and left for St. George where he thought he would get a shot once Hook was gone, which is the case, he has done a decent job as they are trying with him at the helm.

So Carr was in the plans of the club for a bit of time. Not sure if BA thought he would have enough or just thought in that time he would have won a comp by then and happy to let go. I mean i do not begrudge BA for that as he has the job, he can do with it as he pleases. But Ryan Carr could be our Andrew Webster, but that is a big risk too.

Willing to take it? I mean if BA is replaced by Carr for example, i would be open to it to say the least.

      • Yes, I couldn't raise an argument against that logic either LB, I would not be upset to see Carr in the job, I like the idea that he has been at Parra and would have an understanding/view of the happenings.

        He has shown enough at Saints to bring them ahead of where they  were, I have no understanding of how he is regarded within the playing ranks at Parra;

What does concern me ith the present situation is that we don't lose players like Hopgood, who is a strong foundation and future leader of the team. We need I believe to look at top level reserve grade players that cannot get a run through the ranks of the like of Penrith and Broncs.....Hoppy being a prime example.

If we have to pay overs then do so and a plea to the board.....investigate some innovation in attracting players, think TPA's or other incentives, use some initiative......O'Neill and Arthur can only work with what they have got, open the purse strings!

        • The club needs to move forward with naming Hopgood as vice captain with the prospect of him being captain in 2026 once Gutho's deal is done.

          • LB spot on Hopgood should be VC, and I'm sorry but Junior isn't an on field leader for me.

            • Just adds some youth to our leadership group. Last night you watch Hopgood he gave his all, even in kick chases early on he was leading the pack. Paulo followed his lead, that shouldn't be what a co-captain does.

Let Paulo be Paulo, take the captaincy away, have Gutho as solo captain and Hopgood is vice captain ready to take over in future. Also, gives Hopgood a sweetner to stay with us past 2025.

      • Our NSW Cup team was doing well when Carr was the coach. And how he kind of transform the Dragons may well speak of his coaching abilities. If BA is to be moved on then I reckon Carr is worth the risks. On BA's extension, some were saying that it was an automatic clause in his contract that kicked in when we went to the Grand Finals. Maybe BA can do some 'soul' searching - knowing his love for Parra he might just . . .😊

    • Let me tell you, no other coach in the competition fear BA. He is a simple man with a simple game plan (no game plan really). They read him like a book. Anyone will be better than BA. I'd throw JOHN MORRIS in as coach. Wasn't really given a chance at cronulla. Has also played for the eels.

      • Morris is simple also, Morris' strength is in his man management skills.

If anything we need a motivator if anything. That is how Bennett did well for a long time, just kept his words short and sharp, let the assistants be the innovators.

Hook Griffin was that, he was a motivator coach, hired assistants like Matt Elliott to run defence as he was a great X's & O's guy at the Dragons. Didn't work but that's an example.

John Morris is a great assistant for team happiness as he is able to be that comfort prescence with football nouce, but does he have that backbone to be a successful NRL coach?

Guy I met once played at Cronulla in Reggie's and did a pre-season under Morris, said he would run through a brick wall due to trust he had with Morris, not from his game plans or innovations which he said were good but basic, the assistants did all that.

  • Josh Hodgson, lol
