QF - Review

Our attack was very impressive tonight. We didnt have the great percent of possession but still attacked very well and broke down Storms defensive system. I was never confident even when we were up 12-0 not because I never had no faith in parra, but because storm were actually slowly tearing us apart but just needed a bit more polish to finish of their work.

I can say that our wingers and Blake have cominginacitis (a condition where they only come in on defenders). Blake was consistently coming in on the decoys leaving Fergo stranded on the wing. Even when Blake makes the right decision and slide, he is always a couple seconds late. With the speed of ado-carr, Fergo had to stay even closer to the slide line cause Ado Carr is to fast otherwise. When Sivo got injured, BA made a horrible decision not to bring in Will Smith on earlier. Dylan Brown has no experience defending at centre and it was obvious. When defending as a half you can afford to stay in more but at centre you cannot because the opponent running is much faster. I must say D Brown normally is always there in cover defence but I think he was just getting his match fitness back. I don't know how Cameron Smiths tackle on him was not put on report. Smith was the only tackler so he had full control over it. So Smith could of easily put Brown out of the position and thus should be charged for a dangerous throw.

The reffering was horendus. They only give us six agains on tackle 1 which barely make any difference but loved to give it to Storm whenever they needed it. Stopping the game for a cramp cleary shows how Storm manipulate the rules of NRL and is fucking annoying. The ref can't do anything about that because the rules make him stop play when a trainer has their hand up. But yet again, its just Storm cheating as usual. Even though Storm's challenge was unsuccesfful, they reviewed after like 30 seconds which is not allowed, but you probably have to give an excemption to C Smith because he is the refs boss.

With Sivo and Fergo injured, our defence may actually improve. I don't mean to be rude or wish they got injured, but defensively they have been very poor this year. This defensive peformance by Blake was also bad. He is even a worse defender at wing, and comes in on everything (cominginacitis). I am really scared that Cody Walker will tear us to shreads if we have to verse the bunnies. Blake won't be dropped because thats not what BA does and also we are already going to be without Sivo and Fergo. I assume Freddy will bring in G Jennings and Taka. I don't think he should debut Dunster in this sort of pressure.

I have read comments about our defensive system and I agree that its flawed. I dont know whether its BA or Kidwell who makes these systems because its completely garbage. Our attack has become pretty good again but for some reason we can't be good at both.

I have faith in our boys but we really need to sort out our defence.

  • Also next game, I am suspecting Marata to be suspended because he would have carry over points from his suspension earlier in the year. So expect atleast 3 changes to our next weeks team.

    • Kaufusi or Alvaro ?

      • Maybe both and Evans sits out?

  • Can't remember the last time SIvo busted a tackle.

  • I am still trying to workout how we had over 80 percent completions, yet only 30 odd percent of the ball? We were leading 12 to 0. We need speed.  Melbourne burnt us for pace. I honestly think fergo has had to many head knocks and should be retired with boyd cordner.

  • Our defence wasn't good enough when pressure was applied,  our contact was poor and we looked panicked.  It seems we still have a mental issue when playing the storm.

  • Funny how the world goes round.

We sacked Dean Pay because he wasn't up to the job when we were on track for the Wooden Spoon and the Dogs made him head coach - Dogs disintegrated once he was in charge.

Warriors sacked Kidwell because he was useless in getting them up to scratch so we appoint him and look what happened - we went backwards.

    • before the souths game we were the best defensive team in the comp. only averaging 11 points a game. we also played penrith who with a 68 per cent possesion rate and 90 per cent completion rate managed to only score 20. two of those tries in the last thirty seconds of each half.

do you honestly belive our defence has gone backwards comepared to the previous years??

"Randy,  An interesting one.
I suppose coaches trust certain players or believe they're the best fit for the team, even if club form or a high minute count aren't there.
I'd choose you for x-factor even if you only had 5 minutes of form."

"Hoe, I dislike the idea that a player can be selected for Aust with only 480 club minutes on show...and not all of them good. How can he have form without playing?
Perhaps a rule that said 10 nrl games to be eligible for Aust would help everyone"
