Canberra Vikings back-rower Tui Kamikamica is excited to be back playing rugby union after a three-year stint with the Parramatta Eels. The 21-year-old Kamikamica moved to Australia at the age of 18 after finishing his schooling at Queen Victoria school in Fiji. While at school Kamikamica was a Fijian Schoolboys representative in rugby union. It was during his Schoolboys career that he was picked up by the Eels, and he relocated to Australia to take up a contract.Advertisement"I was playing rugby union back home in Fiji, from there the Parramatta Eels saw me play and they called me over to come and play league with them."During the 2013 and 2014 seasons Kamikamica played for the Eels under-20s side, proving himself a valuable contributor at that level. This past season Kamikamica has been playing in the NSW Cup for the Wentworthville Magpies. It was while playing for the Magpies against the Raiders NSW Cup side Mounties that Brumbies assistant coach Dan McKellar spotted him."I came here last month to play in Canberra and after the game Dan contacted my manager and asked if I had played rugby before. After he found out I played at school he was very interested in bringing me down to play in the NRC."Kamikamica is very excited to be playing rugby again after his stint in league."I've been really looking forward to it. I've been away from the game for two and a half years now and it means a lot to me to be back because growing up I was always a rugby union player."McKellar, who is also the Vikings' director of rugby, believes that Kamikamica could be a big asset to the team."From what we've seen of Tui he's a strong ball carrier and we'll be looking for him to carry strong and offload in contact."Tui has the potential to be a real point of difference as a rugby player I believe."

  • Another bites the dust
  • Looking more and more like the class of 2014 - Holden cup squad who was pipped at the post at making the grand final is being split apart. Matto, Li, Kamicamica, ZDC, Tanginoa all gone. And many of our previously touted stars have basically not improve one iota.

Not much can be said about our junior development of late.

We should have 3-5 of that finals squad pushing hard for a NRL spot. Not one has done anything of note.
  • This merkin backflips to rugby and talks up how much he loves it he can fuck right off

  • Not sure why people would be worried. The past 2 years have shown we have got rid of the POOR juniors and they have gone onto nothing special, not even first grade for many. Cheyse Blair, Brayden Williame, Matt Ryan, Pat O'Hanlon, Jake Mullaney, Tanginoa, the list goes on. They have been the right decision. The club has retained the GOOD ones, why are people worried that someone who had never played FG in a season where we had to use plenty of back up players is going to become a "star" or even FG quality. Many, MANY, 20's players dont make the NRL. It's reality.
    • Which good ones are playing for the club other than Junior and Moeroa. Not much to show over the last 5 years or so.

  • I'm kidding Bricktop. Tui is a good mate of mine and I know for a fact he reads this forum. In fact he spends a lot of time on internet forums in general.

  • This is good, clean out the shit
  • I disagree, I personally think he would be in our top 25 next year. He is a tough player but like Jarryd Hayne, his passions is in Union. Good luck Tui

  • This is likely to prove what dopes we are at spotting talent if he is successful. BA seems to have no interest in playing any of our juniors. Even Goodall has got to be better than Toutai who has offered very little in the 2 games he has played this year.

    • Jesus Glenn, do you pay no attention to the salary cap talk on this site? We are severely restricted this season and have been for a number of years in how many players we can promote that are outside of our Top 25. Goodall is not Top 25 hence why he hasn't been seen in first grade.

"I think Braith respects Ryles as a coach and what he's doing at Parra and obviously believes Lomax did the wrong thing, listened to poor advice and brought this all upon himself and did the wrong thing to Parra"
