Priority signings

i know the start of the season should be more exciting and a bigger talking point, but i can't help but get everyone's opinion on who are priority signings are.

With the resigning of Mortimer surely we will lose either Mateo, KK, Inu or Grothe after this year.

Inu:Has potential as seen in 07, but has merely shown the odd glimpse of magic in the past 2 seasons which is not enough considering the class of our backline and i wouldn't be shattered if he left. (He would probably regain some form of old and bite us on the ass though.)

Grothe: Key member of the squad, i don't care what anyone thinks or says about his defence, he is one player we need, his strengths outway his weaknesses, even though i wouldn't be surprised if he left. He has already looked at Japan as an option and i've gotta feeling he won't be in a parra jersey come 2011.

KK: From what he has showed us no one should be a KK basher , but somehow they are everywhere. With Morts resigning i guess that means it is not as important that we keep him, be serious, atm KK and morts is our strongest halve pairing

Mateo: I think he will be the hardest to resign but i think we need him. I understand where people are coming from when they say he's good but we don't need him, i just think he adds so much to our squad, he is an extra play maker, and those offloads are the best you will see anywhere in the world, in both union and league

Priority in order

1.Mateo

2.Grothe

3.KK

4.Inu

  • I like three of those players and idolise the other.

Mateo cannot be replaced, he is a rareity, BIG, FAST, SKILLFULL.

Feleti has a complete game, kicking, passing, running, tackeling and all of this in a 6ft 4 100kg frame.

Name one other player who can do all that at his size? I can only think of one player who comes close but doesn't have the kicking ability he does or the offload, although i think everyone will agree is possibly one of the greatest to play. Greg Inglis?

Correct me if i am wrong
  • i would only really be looking at mateo and KK. creativity and solid combinations in the halves has been our downfall in previous years. they are key signings. inu well has been struggling for a few years and grothe is an on off player who had a good season last year but year before spent most of his time playing for wenty. we have wingers and centres coming through all the time with good talent and a few waiting now.
  • Paul Osbourne is doing a great fantastic job at the club
3 major signings down (hayne, Fui fui, and now mortimer) 3 more signings to go (mateo, inu, and keating)
  • 1. Mateo should have been before Morts for sure, he is a far superior player as far as skill and size, i'll be gutted if we lose him to the dogs, I'd have him up there with Hayne - I really hope Ozzy knows this and works hard to keep him!!

    2. Inu, his combination with Tahu is something I cannot wait to see again!

    3. KK, i don't think he'll go to far and I really doubt he'd sign with another club with him being a junior, a being a Parra local and supporter and with his brother playing... really can't see him going anywhere else anytime soon.

    4. Grothe, I love this guy and would like him to retire at Parra but for the success of the club I would put this guy behind the previous 3... plus my girlfriend is here telling me she'd be gutted if Grothe left!
  • Flares were so pre 90's Billblogs! :)
  • When making my choice... Im taking factors into consideration, including depth in that position, age and positional importance.

    1) Mateo
    2) KK
    3) Inu
    4) Grothe

Unfortunately for Grothe, age is the biggest factor here, more so than the other 3. I love guru, but we have good depth in his position.

I would still love to see Mortimer and Keating back in the halves together, where they combined so well in the juniors.

Inu - We all know he's supremely talented, but I think his biggest challenge is himself. Being the laid back guy he is, he probably finds it harder than most other players to stay motivated, but certainly maturity and Tahu will help that. This will be a make or break year for Inu as far as his position at the Eels goes.
He will have no trouble finding another team.... but he needs to ask himself, where does he prefer to be? If the answer is Parra, i hope, and believe he will have a great season!
  • Just remember Nathan Cayless is coming off-contract too....
  • do u really think he will play on?
