PRIDE and PASSION

Firstly, I just want to say I have been a long time reader of this entertaining website and thought it’s about time I pull my finger out and submit a post. As with everybody on this site (well almost everybody) I am a very emotional and passionate Parramatta supporter and have been since I was knee high to a grass hopper. I was lucky enough to see Parramatta destroy the competition during the 80s, cried into many beers during the 90s; don’t get me started in regards to 1998.

I rode the 2001 season like a seasoned bull rider; only to be hurled off at the 7 second mark. What followed as we all know were many lean years and a lot of BS flung my way from mates…but it came with the territory. What can I say about 2009…’The Dream Run” from no chance mid season to grand finalist. Then the last few years…well I think enough as been written about those last 3 years, so no need to add to it. So that brings us to this year, so what happen this year that has compelled me to thump away on a keyboard finally and post a opinion/remark/discussion on this popular, entertaining and well maintained website? This year I saw the emergence of some substances that has been missing from this team (no..I’m not referring to the sharks new found substances), this year I saw the materialisation of the two P’s, PRIDE and PASSION

2014 saw the team start to exhibit more pride and passion. PASSION for the game (not just for the pay cheque) and PRIDE in the Blue and Gold. We finally have a coach who tells the players what they need to hear, NOT what they want to hear. BA is a coach who loves rugby league; which is evident by the passion that pours from his lips when he talks about what it’s like to coach not only the Eels but also his son’s team. I love his no BS approach to coaching this team, and as shown by this year marked improvement, the players seem to response to it as well. The structure / game plan he had in place still enabled our key players aka ‘the spine’ to use their natural game breaking talent, but still having them stick to a plan (lets call it mission command). I honestly believe this was the main reason we saw Chrissy Sandow finally live up to his potential, by having the best year he has had in the blue and gold colours. I know there’s a lot of hatred directed towards our number 6 from members of this site, so I won’t go there. BUT it was our 9,7 and 6 that enabled our number 1 to have in my opinion his best season to date. Finally we have more then 1 go to player.

So what do I want form 2015? I want to see more pride, more passion and damn how I want to see a premiership again….but if I can see more consistency, see them fight for the full 80mins and see them to continue to play for each other then I’ll be a very happy supporter in 2015.

    • You could have framed a betting market for Snake to be the first respondent to this thread - and along the lines to which he responded!

Shortest odds this side of the Sharks taking on the full Australian side ;-)

  • Welcome to the site Brax. Your posting was a good read. It looks like we have come from the same era as I too have been through the success of the 80's. Pssst. just a word of warning. We can't mention the 80's because the regulars on this site hate when we reflect on the past. Let's look forward to 2015 and beyond. Onwards and Upwards!!
    • I'm picking up what your putting down DaEelz....point noted. Cheers for the tip
