Predicted Eels lineup vs Dogs

Fox sports predicting that Hoffman moves to centre this week and taka to bench. Also reporting Teps ribs not 100% and will require needle to play.

1. Clint Gutherson,
2. Semi Radradra,
3. Josh Hoffman,
4. Michael Jennings,
5. Bevan French,
6.Corey Norman,
7. Mitch Moses,
8. Daniel Alvaro,
9.Cameron King,
10. Tim Mannah,
11. Manu Ma’u,
12.T epai Moeroa,
13. Nathan Brown.

Interchange: Brad Takairangi, Suaia Matagi, Kenny Edwards, Siosaia Vave

Whats thoughts on this team? Is Hoff good enough / better than Auuva to cut it defensively in the centres? I haven't taken much notice of him tbh

  • Taka won't be benched.
    Smith will
    • Agree- No way King will not have a back up
    • Smith to start at hooker with king to replace him with about 20 to go
    • BA said last week in an interview that King will get his chance. So unless he's changed his mind it will be King with smith on the bench. The other way around doesn't make sense as King doesn't have the same impact and versatility value as smith.

    • Thats my bad sorry you're right

  • I'd say Smith would be on the bench. If Moeroa is not 100% he's unlikely to play and Taka would be starting centre as last week. If Lichaa comes I'd have him on the bench and Will Smith as starting hooker or Nelson over King with Smith on the bench. Wouldn't mind seeing Tanginoa get a run as well if he's up to standard and fit.
  • If Tepai isn't 100% then why chance it? He seems to have this chronic shoulder problem that will probably linger his whole career.
Why not give that marata bloke a go, seems to be killing it week in week out in NSW cup
    • Its his ribs that was my bad I fixed it up. just used to his shoulder being dodgy haha

  • Just off topic a little , but how is a needle that is a drug , that decides whether you can play or not, not be classed as a performance enhancer ?

Now I'm far from a wowser , but if we are in the day and age of shoulder charges being banned due to the effects they MAY have long after the playing days are over , then surely if a players body is numbed up to play with a serious injury that would rule them out otherwise , this also could have lasting effects ?

What's the difference to taking something to speed up the recovery ( PED ) of an injury and taking something on game day to make your nervous system think there is no injury ( NPED)
    • I agree with your logic, but as far as I know as long as it does not improve your performance from your normal performance level it is not deemed to be performance enhancing. In any case I saw him train on Monday and he was not wearing an orange bib (the colour warn by recovering/injured players) so I can only assume he is no longer injured.
