    • The way you handle the 19th man issue, where players are not playing Cup as they might be needed for NRL and other players miss out preparing for NRL, is just a extending to 2 players that could be used in case of HIA etc. So instead of saying Joash is 18th man and that's it, we could also name Samrani who can play Centre and back-row. Then make it a little bit easier to get a player in. Yes can be exploited but still better. Maybe 1 HIA or if they come on, they cannot be replaced or the player they replace cannot come back in.

Its more strategic but coaches name their 17 either with strategy in mind. Most teams don't really utilize their 17th player anyway so why not name a winger? Or just have 18th man activated every game but can only use 4 subs.

    • I heard people say "18th and 19th men will back-up from Cup most weeks" well that is not ideal and surely a player safety issue. As the same players will be named, if they can, each week at 18 and 19.

  • I think the 6 player bench will only further the devide of the haves and have nots of the competition. The likes of the Roosters, Broncos, Dogs ect will continue to attaract the major talent and give them a big leg up when in years to come.

  • Are these official or just potential changes, it seems every year we are playing a new game.

  • Why should a team that just conceded points get a choice in fucking anything? These guys are tinkerers and they can't help but tinker.

Instead of shepherding our game they are intent on changing out the flock

    • The VLandys era NRL are great at fixing problems by creating new problems. It reminds me of this Simpsons clip:

I'm not sure I have a better solution, but every year introducing a swathe of new rules and crackdowns that end up changing the dynamic of the game is exhausting as a fan.

Whilst we're on the subject of treating the game like a product more than a sport, how long until they introduce the KFC Zing Steedon that lights up when a try is scored? And what about 2 Sportsbet Super Sets per game where the defending side can only use their left arms to tackle?

      • 2 Sportsbet Super Sets....cleanup on aisle 3...Sportbet execs all spontaneously jizzed in their knickers when they read those 4 words

    • Great point, what sports other than NFL give possession back from a kick?

NFL do it as teams can have the ball for minutes upon minutes. V'Landys has this hard on for NFL and American sports.

      • Next he will start introducing first downs

        • It'll all be worth it when we hold the State of Origin in the new home of VLandys Ball...Las Vegas.
