Possible X-factor target?

Possible option i was think about is Jack Welsby from St. Helens. He has expressed interest in NRL, he did well in pre-season, 22, can play Fullback, Centre, Five-Eighth and Halfback. He is still young enough to bide his time for a year a two then take over as our 1.

Talented kid and has played for England also. Think it is a realistic option.

  • I floated this yesterday, will probably cost more than what we've got to spend. If Mitch hadn't resigned, JW was my plan B.

    • Has Mitch Re-signed ?

      • Not officially according to his coach and Gutherson

      • My understanding is that he and the club have agreed to terms, the club is just working with the NRL on how best to structure the deal to make it as salary cap friendly as possible. Once that's sorted he'll officially sign the contract. Apparently he has informed the Tigers he's staying at Parra.

        • You'd think our guys would have as much of an understanding of how to make it as salary cap freindly as the NRL do.  If anything we should know better than they, since we're the ones that need to be creative. How do we go into a negotiation without knowing exactly how it's going to be best structured. I'd get the sack if I tried negotiating a contract and then going to the business afterwards asking how the terms should be laid out and when and how I'm making payments 😂.

          that's a little alarming

          • Happens all the time, teams are constantly in dialogue with the Salary Cap Auditor in what is & isn't allowed. The CBA is fairly complicated with all manner of provisions in it. Most of the time it's just crossing the t's & dotting the i's type stuff.

            • Yeah I get that , but we should be going to them saying this is how it's structured , and let them pull us up on the parts they think we are overstepping on. Or ... we shoud've done this step prior to presenting the offer.  I can't think of another club that has so many issues getting this job done with their currently rostered players.  Not to mention how bad we are at gettig deals like Lodge , Tapau etc done.  Maybe our issue lies with our guys needing the NRL to show them how to draw up an offer.

    • I mean it is a dreadful trade for St. Helens but they do not know that hahaah.

      • It'll take a sizeable transfer fee to pry JW loose from St Helens, given that he is under contract for another 3 years there.

        • Since Parra is a rich club and transfer fees don't count towards the cap it shouldn't be a problem.

"Hi Bup,
Native Title land is not freehold. There is no right to buy and sell. It means Aboriginal people can use the land for traditional purposes e.g. throwing boomerangs etc. They also have input to how it is maintained etc. If you get the chance…"
