"Meanwhile, winger Jorge Taufua has been hit with a Grade 1 Dangeours Contact charge for making contact with Will Hopoate in the 56th minute with his foot while trying to stop the former Sea Eagle from crossing the line."
In the act of scoring, Jorge Taufua intentionally lashed out at Will Hopoate with his feet and made contact. He failed to fully dislodge the ball and Hopoate was still able to score.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't this have been a possible 8 point try? It was the difference between a 6 and 8 point lead, so there's no denying it's significance. The call went up to the video ref and they had plenty of time to rule on this.
If Manly had've come back, this FAILURE from the referees would have been crucial. It's no surprise that, yet again, it's against us and favouring the Sea Eagles.
I continue to be disappointed by the NRL...

It would have if Taufua had actually hurt Hopoate. No damage was done so they just told him off.
Regardless of the damage done, it's technically a professional foul.
wasnt an 8 point try paint against storm last year or the year before when slater lead with knees?
I recall Gus saying that it would have advantageous if Hoppa had lost the ball. Penalty try with 2 kicks in front of the posts.
It's mystifying that no penalty was given but he was charged.
True. The problem is , if he dropped it, they would have found a way to rule no try.
Great effort by Hoppa to get that down.
Possible 8 point is for an offence in the act of scoring, which this was.
