Positive for the Club

It's all doom and gloom around here and rightly so , BA has flopped again and we're next to no chance in this comp with where we're positioned and how we're playing .

But ... there's a positive to be found. Congrats to the recruitment and retention committee for not re-signing Reed Mahoney . Many on here had him as a future Origin player and captain of the club. The club has been smashed every other day by those idiots on NRL 360 and commentators about letting him walk. He is extremely average. His best attacking season by FAR was last year when 95% of the NRL had their best attacking season playing fatigued touch football . But his defence .. my god . It's no coincidence our best period of the year last year was when he was out of the side. Joey Lussick (a Super League benchie) stepped in and we didn't miss a beat and our defence went to another level with back rower Ray Stone playing 9. Reed losing the contest in 95% of his tackles is absolutely killing us. How many times is he being left on the ground , getting bumped and conceding about 15 post contact metres ... being 3rd or 4th man in and not shutting down an offload .. getting walked through from a standing start by Payne Hass .. the Dogs bought an absolute lemon.

Statistically he made around 60 tackles on Friday night and he's a dead set target . We win no tackles he's involved in. Good riddance.

  • Can't agree more. Just don't sure what to think about Hodgson taking his place. And who's going to take ice spot on the edge

    • I dread thinking about what our bench is going to look like.

  • Mate - he is one glaring problem in a team  of many.  We  are simply not good enough and don't have the mental  structure within the team to react to adversity when it comes . Our leaders go missing .

We know we will have Hodgson here next year and we all know the injury risks are there too, plus side is we will have a strong leader and mentally hardened campaigner .  Can only help

    • Absolutely .. but we saved 650k on our cap by not signing this bloke. He has a good flat kick out of dummy half and s good at sniffing around offloads and moving the ball on when we're playing that style. Easily the worse defensive 9 in the game.. its not even close. His service is hot and cold , no ability to engage markers or take off when theyre on the back foot... hes bog average. A player thats been paid purely on his 2021 season and media created hype.

If the Dogs could do a player swap with the Dolphins and keep JMK for 200k i think they would in a heartbeat.

  • This was the correct call from the start. Good player only not worth 'big money'

  • Has a handful of good games. Goes missing in most. Needs the entire side to be firing for him to fire. Can't spark anything on his own , not even if you gave him a box of matches,  a lighter, a blow torch and a flame thrower would he be able to fire something up solely. .

  • Not to toot our own horn but how's this looking now ?

    • toot toot!
