Podcast with Dean Widders

Hey guys,

Hope you've been enjoying some of the old eels players podcasts I've been doing. I should also have Beau Scott on shortly we are just  working out a date. This week's podcast is with Dean Widders who I'm sure you all have fond memories.   • Loved watching Dean come off the bench for us. One of the great impact players of the 2000s. That dummy and left foot step destroyed some coaches. I remember Nathan Brown saying after a game where he tore St George apart saying, "You know it's coming but you just can't stop it."

    • Was defo one of the great bench modern day players. 

      Underated foot speed too which we chat about and he reveals how he got good in that area.

  • Loved Dean Widders as a player. For a bulky guy, he was pretty deceptive speed wise, and possesed some silky skills!
    I remember an in and away against Penrith once that had me watching it on replay several times!

     

    • For a forward he had some great trys. Similar to Tyrone Peachey just big enough for the forwards but plenty of speed to match the backs
