Please remind me why we are letting Manu Mau leave?

Just OMG for all you haters. This guy is going to be a massive loss to the team.  If we don't have a better signing to replace him then I am a very confused man.  Played again, like a champion  tonight.  My personal opinion is that he is going to be missed big time. One of the team that truly lifted when one short tonight.  Clearly playing to repay the Club that gave him his chance at as better life.  This guy is the kind of heart and soul we have always needed.

    • But Manu said he didn’t want to play against us that’s why he going there...there’s not too many players I believe but I believe him.

think we did not want to re-sign him and he took up offers o/s...is that not right?

    • This ^^^^ It is massive money for the guy.

      We have plans be patient.

  • It’s beyond belief that he is going...the guy has soul and you can’t buy that easily!

    Well said EE !!

    • Macy, from what I have read what he has said is that the reason he is leaving is that he has gotten a 2 year deal to play in SL, not just the two years but also at higher money than the eels were able to pay him.  He also said that he owed everything to the eels club, his team mates and the coach as he believe had he not got the opportunity with the eels he'd likely still be in prison.

The amount of money he gets in SL means he can have a better financial future for his self and his family.  I would love to have seen him stay when looking at some that are, but given what he has said and you picked up, I cannot blame him one bit for the decision.

  • I agree, the Eels are going to miss him but Niukore is coming along nicely and should be able to fill that void. He just doesn't have the passing game of Mau but with more experience he should be able to pick it up. Marata's running game isn't far of Mau and he has plenty of development left in him.

    • Maybe Niukore just needs some time in the big house...

      ...and a mean neck tatt

  • Victim of last year and our early season form. We forget that around the time of Gutho resigning we were getting lapped and the storm put 60 on us. Decisions were made to clear the decks and Mau was moved on. Since then him, Evans, Jennings, Moses etc have all improved out of site and the team found some consistency and learnt to win.

  • Huge loss. An absolute must to be replaced.

  • It's probably more of him wanting to go and try his talents in the UK and why not!

  • Agree, i reckon we're letting him go a year or two early based on this years form, hes been outstanding.

Who ever gets him in England has got a very good buy, he'll kill it over there and they'll love him.
