PLEASE READ: NIGGLE MORATORIUM

Until season kickoff, I'm putting in place what I'm calling a "niggle moratorium".

 

I realise it's been a long off-season but the last week has gone over the top and a few long-time members have decided to take a break from the site.

 

So I'm putting in place a zero tolerance policy on any kind of interpersonal niggling - no name-calling, abuse, putting people down, deliberate stirring and so forth. And while we're at it, there will be far less tolerance for any swearing, crudity or anything else I feel brings down the tone of the site.

 

If you breach these policies, you'll simply be suspended until I feel the site's balance has been regained. This policy goes for all areas of the site, including The Cupboard chat. 

 

1Eyed Eel is a place to talk about the Eels. When all the other stuff gets in the road of that, it's time to crackdown and obviously last week's message still didn't get through. If you get in the road of me sharing my love for the Eels with other passionate supporters, you're simply not wanted here.

    3320880474?profile=originalCould not agree more Phil, I have banned the site from my wife & kids and rarerly click on because of the language and total b.s.that is creeping in & taking over the site BUT, if it is cleaned up 6 more eel tragics will again contribute to what was a supporters delite to read

    Mate, I'll cop the blame for that, they are working to my guidelines which are probably too lenient now the site has grown to this size. I'm hoping the footy season restores the usual mojo but I think we do need to raise the benchmark in terms of what constitutes an acceptable post. And I think with The Cave in place now, there is also an area away from the main site where people who want to, can roughhouse.

    I don't know the full extent of whats been going on but you are right to want to protect your site and the very valuable members of it, I love coming on here and having a look around and would be a shame to think anyone is taking advantage of it, It's such a great place to come, even ask the sharkie's fans and doggies fans that come on here, i know they don't support The Mighty 2011 Premiership winners to be, but they obviously appreciate the site also, a bit of fun is ok and nothing wrong with a bit of a niggle but don't take it too far

    If posters can't make their point without the swearing and personal abuse, ban them.  It'll reduce the traffic and definitely improve the quality.  Far too many keyboard warriors here.

    I have no problem with that, but it would be pre empitive to take an approach to the regular instigators of this site.

    good to hear, it has been more aggressive since around december onwards. hope it gets back on track now.

    While you are stamping down on these keyboard warriors Phil, can you please barr these idiot supporters of other clubs who want to hijack this site to rubbish our great club as well as our players. I'm personally sick to death of hearing those doggies supporters jumping on this site to rubbish the eels. Keep up the good work.
