Players clubs should have signed

Hi all this is my first ever blog and i just wanted to find out everyone options on the worst signing desicions by made by an nrl club. Watching ponga today he really seems like the cowboys should have tried better to re sign him if possible with jt ending his career in the next year or two surely they could have had a back eneded deal etc to get him .Anyway in my opinon the worst call by a club ever was parramatta in 1993 they received info from ella that a young talent wanted to sign with us named darren lockyer, eels were not interested and were happy with their halves at the time but how different would out club have been and not to mention it would have put darren in a blues jersey at origin time

  • Welcome aboard optimistic, yeh i heard DL say we were in the picture in those early days, disappointing he didnt come.

Agree on Ponga, hes the real deal, one of those players like Fittler you can just tell from watching 1 game of them play from an early age that they are all class and going to make it

  • Come on 'Optimistic'. Proof read your blog or at least the title. Just a heads up mate.
You can 'Edit blog' if you need?
Anyway, welcome and go you eels!

  • Yeah ypu can add beaver menzies aswell he was close to signing during the northen eagles debacle but decided to stay loyal.
Bulldogs keeping sherwin and anasta over JT probably the biggest mistake in recent history

  • Optimistic eel lol.
Mate, you could go through any club's records and find on many occasions the club should have signed a talented junior that they lost.
Sure you don't want to change your name to pessimistic eel ? ;)
  • Welcome aboard. It's a great community forum.
Now it's time to put one myth to bed - once and for all.
Locky was always going to play for the Broncos.
I've actually asked him about the eels and he told me it was crap.
A couple of clubs tried to recruit him over the years but we're told that he wasn't going anywhere.
    • Ive seen him say in an interview that the eels were right in the picture early on.

  • Cowboys Resigned Coote when they should of kept ponga
  • Didn't we turn Jharal Yow Ye away because he was "too small"? His career was cut short but he still had a couple of good seasons.
