Tonights game has got me so angry, because we showed that we should be better than them, but we keep shooting ourselves in the foot and hand over too much possession.
Our Halves, i beleive are the major problem, Lyon is not a playmaker, and whilst Noddy had quite a good game, i dont think he has the skill to be the sole playmaker, or the finese to give our backs the best possible service.
1.Kurt Gidley - Gidley tonight pissed me off more than anyone. He is not Origin fullback material, and is suited to an interchange role, un fortunantely he is our skipper and will most likely be reatained at fullback for all three games. He seems to make alot of mistakes and hasnt been very creative. He also doesnt have the hole running skills of a Dugan, Slater, Hayne or Coote. In a fantasy world, i wouldnt have him anywhere near the fullback position.
Solution: Play him on the bench to come on for ennis and add some spark.
2.Jarryd Hayne - Played well, but was too often caught out defensively, he needs his hands on the pill more as he is the most likely player to produce spark or set up tries, how is this possible?, he needs to be our fullback. If he was fullback tonight, i would say we win tonight.
solution: Play him at fullback
3.Timana Tahu - Played quite well without being outstanding, saved a try and knocked lokyer on his ass :) , he has done enough to be retained.
solution: Retain him in his postiton
4.Matt Cooper - Didnt have a great night, a few errors, no good runs. Hasnt done enough to maintain his spot with the quality centres we have in the making.
solution: DROPPED
5: Brett Morris - played alright with little opportunity. He is a try scoring machine, if he was playing in the QLD backline, he would have grabbed a hat-rick on the back of JT's playmaking, and ability to spread the ball.
solution: retain him
6.Jamie Lyon - I cant see him getting dropped, but i wouldnt have him in my 17. He isnt a 5/8, and we have way too much quality in the centres. His goal kicking is his strong case for being retained.
solution: DROPPED
7.Brett Kimmorley - Played well, defended with all his heart and was in a bunch of important tackles. Pair him with a quality 5/8 playmaker, and we are set.
solution:retained
8.Michael Weyman - Solid allround game, run hard and tackled well.
solution: retained
9.Michael Ennis - Didnt set the world on fire, but still was very solid, and i beleive he is made for origin.
solution: retained
10.Josh Perry - Played solid tonight, i dont really rate the bloke, but based on tonights performance, he doesnt deserved to be dropped.
solution: Retained
11.Trent Waterhouse - I thought he looked quite slow out there personally, he is a solid attacker and defender, but i didnt think he played well enough to hold out some of our quality backrowers.
solution: dropped
12.Ben Creagh - As always, hit the gaps well, ran well and tackled well, not much more to say.
solution: Retained
13.Anthony Watmough - Best forward tonight IMO, never gave up, great running game, and damaging in defense.
solution: Retained
14: Jamal Idris - didnt do ahell of alot, but his first run showed he is origin material, and scored a try that only a very strong centre would have scored. He looks the goods and didnt really step a foot wrong IMO.
solution: Promoted to Matt Coopers "vacant" spot
15: Tom Lehroyd - Lahrs -Played a very good game tonight, however i thought he was injected too early and would be better as an impact played.
solution: Retained
16.Luke Lewis - Great utility option, played decent and didnt do anything wrong.
solution: Retained or possibly promoted to starting line -up
17. Brett White - Looked slow, when we got on a roll, he took a hitup and put us on the back foot, didnt do enough IMO.
solution: Dropped
This would leave my team looking like this:
1.Hayne
2.B.Morris
3.Tahu
4.Idris
5._ ( Josh Morris)
6._ (Trent Barret, Jamie Soward)
7.Kimorley
8.Weyman
9.Ennis
10.Perry
11._(Laffranchi, G.Stewart, Gallen, Bird)
12.Creagh
13.Watmough
14.Gidley
15.Lewis
16.Lehroyd Lahrs
17._ (Galloway)
On the wing i would probaly go with Josh Morris, he is a quality finsher and even though he is a centre at club level, is well suited to the wing as well.
five eight is one of the most important changes need for Game 2. I think you cant go wrong with Trent Barrett because he is solid, reliable and he has proved last year he can do it. But i think Soward is the genuine playmaker that the team really needs as much as i hate him. He has a great kicking game and passing game and would give our backs awesome service, so i would probably be going with Soward, but would be quite pleased with Barrett.
We have so many quality second rowers to choose from, normally i would include Hindy, but i have come around to the fact he wont be picked, so i think Stewart and Laffranchi are the worker types we need who also add good spark, Gallen and Bird a the hardmen enforcers which every team needs, im just not sure if we need anyone else more than Watmough. I would be very happy with any of them either way.
The prop bench spot i think shold go to big keith Galloway, mostly because he has impact and is big and damaging (also because i cant think of anyone else atm, xD.
FAROUT, THIS IS A LONG BLOG, SO ANYONE WHO BOTHERED TO READ IT OR HAS AN OPINION, DROP UR THOUGHT AYYE?

No lyon... Inglis has a hold on him
Gildey utility role only
Bird will smash them at 6
Lewis and Monoghan will keep that right edge quiet for once.
What is this fascination with Bird at 6
He is a fair lock at best and never has been a playmaker.
He has got to have some very embarrasing photos of someone to be constantly touted at 6
Same as Gidley at 1 - he is a utility bench player
Few disagreeances BBG
Drop What moe - he gives away too many penalties on 4 - 5th tackle with his hands/kness whatever in the play the ball (thanks for the coaching Des) so that when the opposition do happen to drop the ball - if Whatmoe is anywhere near the play the ball the refs give penalties on suspicion of his dirty tactics.
Farrah at 9
No Laffranchi and on current form Mason has got to be considered
Like it or not Lyon is one of the better centres running around atm as much as I would like to see Idris given a full game.
New coach, starting NOW is a must. Read my view on other origin blog
Brett Kenny with MG & Fittler as assistants. All have excellent knowledge and passion for SOO
Lyon - played well, but we need better if we want to win.
Idris - was slow and sluggish, he's not ready to be a origin player (no impact! was useless aside from his first touch).
Lahrs - Lazy effort, drop him.
Lewis - Didn't see enough of him, I'd play him at right centre, he is the answer to Inglis.
White - shit shit SHIT!!!!!!
Soward - I hate him too, but why is he not our 5/8, we need his kicking game.
Gallen - No way, but I don't know, maybe he would be a great prop.
Hayne - Fullback duh!
Captain - Hindmarsh, I'm sick of hearing he is old, put a sky blue jersey on him and see how many tries he stops, best defence in the league and origin is built on defence, enough said.
Coach Bell-end - sack him and bring in Gus or Brian Smith.
The selectors - What a useless bunch of morons.
I'm glad I tipped QLD and if no proper changes are made I hope it's a white wash.
P.S. I know, I know, none of the above is going to happen.
Rabbit calls 2 forward passes that result in a try and Goose comes over the top of him to extoll the brilliance of the maroons.
Turncoat after becoming the Blues coach of all time.
I have been one of the biggest baggers of Jamie Soward, but i tend to agree with some supporters here, Soward must be chosen and given a chance to prove whether he should be there or not.
Kurt Gidley proved again last night why he should never have been fullback, he should be on the bench or at home watching the game.
Bird is an Origin player. He has won multiple MOM awards playing for NSW and Australia. You want the best playmaker then you pick Soward.... however Soward will simply not get the opportunities that present themsleves in club footy. Its simple.
You want the most dangerous centre.... then maybe Jennings. But again he just won't get the space he has at club footy. No point in taking a Ferrari on a 4wd track.
I want NSW to pick Origin players. "origin " players are ones that have:
The ability to bend the line with their runs... regardless of position.
Tackle all day withoout making massive misreads (hitting hard and additional bonus)
proven they handle the big stage.
Hayne, Lewis, Bird, Gallen etc have proven themselves to be origin players.
