Player Assessments This Season

I think its time to start criticising players who are not performing, players who are paid much more than the vast majority of supporters will ever be paid. Surely if your paid highly and don't perform you either cop criticism or are sacked.

Hoppa - too slow for fb, best position must be centre

Robinson - needs to be fb, very speedy and will give punch from the back that Hoppa doesn't

Fariamo - solid but not speedy, maybe Goodall better option as similar weight but much quicker. Make Goodall other winger until Radradra comes back and then drop Fariamo

Morgan - speedy and strong defender but does not appear to offer too much, replace with Taka when comes back

Folau - big and strong but too slow for the backs and still caught out in defence, drop back to Wenty. Best position will be in the forwards in the future imo

Sandow and Norman - our two best halves, not shining at moment but if we fix up our handling maybe they will have enough good ball to do something with

Watmough - very disappointing so far would drop to bench or Wenty, here for retirement imo

Ma'u - simply brilliant each week and gives his all. If we had 16 more players like him we would be unbeatable

Gower - usually very solid player but last two weeks been average imo, if we hang onto ball (and he is not at fault here) maybe he will go better but still a keeper

Lussick - plays tough and hard but still prone to giving away penalties. Stays in team at moment but whether should be re-signed I am not sure

Peats - playing ok but not to last years standard, probably still our best in that position

Mannah - solid is the best description to describe his performances, not sure if should be retained after his contract expires.

Wicks - good backup and solid. Needs to get some more skill in his game

DeGois - same as Peats but form not up to last years standard

Jo Paulo - played well and amongst best previously but yesterday back to old tricks of throwing bad passes. Made at least 3 errors I believe, needs Wenty time and if forwards start offloading good ball don't think we need him

Terepo - has played better this year and actually hanging onto the ball but offers little go forward and has no skill. Wenty player at best.

Moerora - played well in Wenty so maybe in fg next week but generally good player. Again needs to increase his skill level as does not offload much

Pauli - big, skilful and strong, had a great game for Wenty in his comeback game, maybe should be in fg next week

Fa'aoso - played strongly in Wenty but dropped too much ball which is our malaise at the moment. Needs more time in Wenty to fix if possible as apparently been guilty of it in the past

Our problems the past two weeks are the slow backline and lack of ball security. So come on BA lets get this team on track again and fix these problems.

  • Robinson would be rocks n diamonds at FB.

    • At least a few diamonds is better then "NO Diamonds" Hopoate
    • And Hoppa made 2 and missed 3 Bernie. Not good enough from either of them.
  • Morgan, speedy, strong defender but dosnt offer much. Sorry had to laugh at that one.
  • Our cheapest players are our standouts,,, makes me sick
  • You could drop nearly every player except for Manu after the last couple of games but people seem to pick on certain individuals after every loss and I get that, I have a real problem with sandow and Morgan but give them full support when in the squad and try not to criticise individual players. We have issues across the whole squad at the moment and are nowhere near the consistency that ba keeps talking about. Yes we can spring an upset and good game but our best to our worst are poles apart,
I would be very careful taking nsw cup form and thinking it automatically translates to first grade, or Holden cup for that matter. There is a huge difference for example yesterday tepai and Pauli looked like giants and made several metres nearly every carry dragging defenders along. In first grade they hold their own but do nowhere near as much damage. The other part to that is our first grade team trains against the nsw cup side so yes they look great at training but again come up against a completely different level on game day so things that work and look great at training all of a sudden are not working and much more difficult. It's not a criticism just my observation of training and game day.
The other concern is our Holden cup team did exactly what our first grade team did, winning at half time to be blown away in the second half, we are doing something very wrong across the squad and coaching staff need to find it and address it asap.
  • Hindy check out the match stats. Reece Robinson 0 tackles 2 missed tackles. Honestly you want him as FB.

  • Pure gold. Why haven't you taken these critiques to Brad Arthur?
  • Robinson is not the answer at fullback. He is no good at kick returns and unless he is put into a gap he has nothing, has speed but nothing else so it is a no for fullback. Agree Hoppa also is not a fullback and should be in the centres or wing. I would put Hoppa centre for experience and put Goodall and Lavarka on the winds as they are faster and offer more than what we now have. Yes they are young and inexperience but that only comes with playing NRL and the support of the coaches and team mates. As for fullback Ham or 40 twenty would have a better idea as they see and have a better idea how the juniors are going.

  • The worry is when they are lethargic the whole team is not just a few this is the culture change that I wanted to see , but alas it's not happening. You know which parra have turned up in the first ten minutes, to predictable.
