  • 2001 ahh some good records set by the eels the year. Most points scored by any team in one year...
    • Indeed, CP. Plenty of tremendous records broken by that side and still standing right now.

  • Thanks again Ricky. I see Paul Carige gets a mention here. He brings up some fine memories.
    • S'all good, FME.
Yeah, he appears in a few. Maybe more bad ones than good, lol.

    • The Storm are probably the most consistent side of the last 10 years or so.

They rarely miss out on finals and no matter who comes in, the Bellamy factor always sees nuffies perform well.

  • Ye there's one particular game id rather forget.
    • You certainly don't have to have seen the game in question nowadays, to know what happened.

  • I hate to be a downer, but it is my view that Bellamy started the rot in the game. Wrestling; grapple; holding players up in the tackle; play the ball being slowed etc. no doubt he is a strong and thorough coach, and one who improves players but the game has become more about the 'ruck' too often. This has resulted in refereeing being less consistent.

For e.g. the ruck in origin. It was slowed down by players laying around; getting tangled etc. all deliberate it seems to make the play the ball slow and teams to have more time to be set. Melb have done this for ages.

They are heavily structured and teams who ad-lib more give them issues at times.

"Semi would have broken the try scoring record if he'd stayed with us. He had 82 tries by the age of 25. And he only got half a season with Mitch. Sivo finished with 104 tries after debuting after 23. Could you imagine how many more tries Semi would…"
