I read with some interest about BA being a cog and really the puppateer was O'Neill. I am going to explain why O'Neill cannot be the Puppateer!

Anyone with some knowledge of physcology and and a view on this  I will create a platform for you.

Tuesday is teamlist day and again we see no changes to the previous week and in a tradition we have become used to......most of us seem to understand how BA thinks.

Who do we think selects the team every week.....BA? a selection committee or a robust discussion with his coaches and BA calling the final shots?.....personally I don't know how it is done.....does anyone know?

Does O'Neill get a look in? remembering BA and O'Neill report directly to the CEO, I suspect there must be some consultation?

Now my physcology is that options 2 or 3 just dont happen. If they did there would be variations on some type of basis of different opinions winning through over time.

NO the only reason that the side/s don't change is the complete autocracy of the coach.

Next point if O'Neill makes signing/recruitment decisions and BA deals with the dreggs, then he (BA) would be altering the side all the time to demonstrate his dissention. Simple physcology!   ????

This board has been placed in a zone of comfort because in BA they can feel comfortable, so again suspect they are also mainly yes men. Fong maybe right about them being a second rate level board but I prefer Head Over Heels (Hoe) analogy of being a board of employees rather than leaders in their own respective fields.

Now make out of that, what you want from what I have written, it demonstrates how dangerous the board is in its current evolution (it had a real role originally), it places the emphasis on an inactive non functioning board as to directions we need to take.....the board should be able to review an early season review with the idea of placing the club in a direction beyond mediocrity. It is the only way they can govern as they need external advice to push them.....yes without knowing the individuals (we certainly cant judge them) they have to get advice from external consultants with independant views.

Let me finish by saying corporate management at the highest level is now governed by this philosophy and it is some of the reasons management can be so ineffectual. You will find hardly a high level board anywhere that will not make a decision without getting a legal, accounting, or some other expert opinion before signing off on something.

Personally and having experienced this style of management it breeds an ineptitude as to why we repeatedly see decision's made within companies to do nothing but protect the board and hamper the company's development..

My instinctive feeling is that is the paralysis that holds us (Parra) back, whether its TPA's or other forms of management.....

benevolent dictatorship whether from Uncle Nick, the bloke from Melb, or the large money providers like Laundy at the Dogs, are the succesfull clubs because they don't hold back.Well maybe not the dogs, they have the old look of Parra about them lol.

Parramatta tried to be that and as Frankie Fong will tell you, our benevolent dictators were a fucking bunch of morons.

Now think about all this and there is no "woke" goody two shoes answer, just the fact we are walking in quicksand.

The BA's, Moses and the ongoing debates that Wiz loves are nothing, they maybe part of the cause but the solution lies elsewhere!

PS. What process do you think takes place when the team is considered?  and what types of discussions do you see taking place when our board meets?

  • Physcology - Love it Pops. For the record I think we shouldnt have signed BA to an extension. I do like a good debate though and if everyone agreed then this site would get as boring as " you know what I mean". So in the interests of debate I'll counter the other side.

    i. The coach has final say on team selection. Agreed mate

ii. BA would alter the side if he was getting the dreggs with no say in recruitment. - This dosnt take in all the information available, I suspect he has a say of course, however id suggest he hasnt got his way on all recruitment. O'Neill holds the purse strings, Rogers holds the head of recruitment position and Sarantinos / Mcelduff both powerpuffs are on the comittee.

Now BA wouldnt alternate his side if he he didnt trust the players around the first grade side. It makes more sense to not change the team around because the reggies or bench players are not up to first grade standard. Something is off here, follow the bread crumbs BA wanted Tuapau, Lodge, Klemmer,Frizell . It didnt happen. The trail and the facts indicate Ba is not happy with having certain players in the top 30 . Id suggest because these players are not first grade standard but are cheap enough to fit under O'Neills salary cap plans.

Further I want Waqa and Simonsson out of the team on game day, but who do you put in today considering its O'Neills job to promote Cini to the top 30 roster. The other boys Dunster/  Russell are injured or underdone. Lume Lume is able to fill in but he hasnt been on fire anywhere his been. Again another cheapie solution, because the contracts that O'Neill negotiated with Matterson, RCG, Gutho, Paulo, Lane, Dylan Brown, Will Penisini have all been upgraded by significant amounts.

BA wanted Ice and Mahoney to stay, he developed them - they were his projects. O'neill nope couldnt negotiate  a deal and instead we have bench players playing no minutes.

Taupau was a done deal as far as BA was concerned., Ba had the Manly connection . O'Neill steps in and guess what couldnt get a deal done. Another Bench spot on Ba's game day thrown away.

    2. The board I know some personally, and they are a collective of different people. But they are not stooges. A board in all reality couldnt remove a coach that just took you to a grandfinal. Thats insane. If your trending upwards you dont remove the man in charge on game day., without exceptional reason. I do agree he shouldnt be resigned right now. But what is it we dont know - we have a piece missing Pops. Does a future signing depend on it, is it Mitch, could it be Will Penisini's best mate that comes off contract in 1 year and is now blocked from playing fullback at the Roosters by the NSW Captain, Joseph Suali. I dont know. - what i do know is we are missing a piece of the puzzle on this timing of the resigning.

Back to why your physcology says O'Neill cant be the Puppeteer. The best Puppeteer, the most successfull Puppeteers, the most powerful Puppeteers are the ones you dont see, the ones you dont think about, the ones that stay behind the scenes. The ones with no public personas and no public scrutiny. The real Puppetteers have someone out in front to take the public gaze and when the time comes to be the fall guy.

BA is coach in all aspects and the reason they may be resigning him is can I suggest possibly not that the board are week and yes men, but that BA accepts his role in the organisation of being overuled on occassion by the Puppeteer.

Illusions Pops - something is not right in Parradise

    • The missing Piece- BA's upgrade is actually an uptake of a 3rd year option in his contract. Pure and simple. That changes a lot of dynamics of why now.

      • For all we know making a GF could have been tied into the option

        • Great response BE, love your counters and in the spirit of the debate, I will wait see other responses. You certainly raised things that did not occurr to me.

    • BE - the Tapau one was interesting, Marty was in the Eels office having a medical assessment done when he got the call from the Broncos. The offer trumped the Eels $$'s and term considerably....it wasnt that the Eels coudlnt do the deal, the broncos just came in with more $$'s.

      • Its sorta is we didnt get the deal done. It took weeks and weeks, why xmas holidays perhaps, for example 1st December Ba gets Taupau to comit. Hands over to O'neill to get the contract done. Why are we weeks down the track before he is being medically examined, why hadnt the deal been drawn up and signed. Thats my point the deal didnt get done.

And thanks for sending me in the right direction with BA's 3rd year option, that was a good pickup 👍

        • if he was getting a medical, its all but done one would assume, except the signing of the contract - terms etc would have been agreed, as you dont waste time on a medical if its not going to be done - you do it to confirm that the player is sound...but definitely could have been done a bit quicker...

          appreciate the kind words 👌

      • Glad to see your back posting Rocky, anyone with half a brain realises the morons that went after you don't have anything to offer......just keep your cool and pick them off one at a time.....don't let them get under your skin.

        • This reply was deleted.
          • Well only of you and Rocky are twins Brissy.......the implication is a minimun so don't feel retarded Lol.

        • thanks pops....lets see how it goes....wont hold my breath
