If the eels win a grand final Gould will say it was lucky and we are still a soft team. He has hated us since we stopped him winning a grand final as a player in 1981
If we won the GF, Gould would dredge up some article he wrote in April about how we are the real deal and tell everyone he knew we were a great team all the way back in April. Anything he said in between would be treated like it never happened and no media outlet wouid dare bring it up.
We do need to beat them, in the finals that is to have any chance. Next 2 weeks we just need to at least show up and put in a good defensive effort and get some attacking structures in place. Unfortunately this should of been done pre season not with 2 weeks left remaining.
We are 6th. We will finish the season 6th. Realistically it doesn't matter what we do in the next 2 weeks.
So we are now in preparation mode for a finals campaign. Same as basically the rest of the Top 6.
We need to rest key players if needed. We need to test out combinations and structures. We need to build our confidence. The scores and results don't really matter - if we beat them, Gould and co will give a reason why (rested players, foot off the gas prepping for finals) and if we lose they'll continue to write us off.
Our finals prep starts now. We needed the win last week, we got it. Now it's all about preparing for a clean slate come finals. It's a new competition - and it's where our focus needs to be.
"100%. Most of us have been glued to computers for decades. Yet, I wouldn't blame the computer for our decisions, and suspect there's more than a touch of human decision-making behind it. That's not wholly "vibes". Partly from reliable sources. Not…"
"Ryles is mountain-first, badge-first. Perhaps a reason he may "seem unfazed" losing players who want or need to go for dosh. Sensible really.
But losing Lomax would be a body blow. He's our Payne Haas-Xavier Coates hybrid. Our yardage tank. Lion…"
"You heard all the whining about how NATO should have shot down the Ruzzian jets involved in an air incursion into Estonia? This story itotally lines up with modern Nato air tactics but it is the first time that the enemy has actually been exposed to…"

I wouldnt be too concerned about what Gus ( i know everything) Gould and Co say.
I mean Penrith without Cleary. But Melburne in round 2 was a phenomenal 80min performance, one of the only times this year we played full 80 mins.
In the wet. Grinding match

Completely agree
A loss 1-12 is good enough for me
