Pessimists vs optimists

Hey all,With some of our recent years performances, it Looks like this website is starting to split,Which side if the fence do you sit on?For mine I gave kearney til round 6 second yr,I wanted taylor when we got Stuart and then I switched to arthur when he battled it out which jt,But for fk sake - since 2010 as per my profile when I created it, I have been screaming for useless players like effing seffa and lasalo and matuia to be sackedYet the club continues signing has beens like Webb walker chocArthur in my opinion hasn't don't anything to train, or select, or play the right players for their strengths - he's a dud! Where do you sit? I'm happy to be proved wrong but this post you are pinning your reputation too!

  • BA has had his hands tied with a top 21 squad for the past 2 years along with salary cap issues, meaning his "selection" of the side has been limited and fairly restricted in being able to chop and change. Add to that our horror injury run and there just isn't much that can be done. We'd all love to see someone other than Kelly, Morgan etc out there, but it is simply not possible at this moment. Until he has coached a squad he has put together, we cannot judge. Since pretty much 2008, we have never let a coach properly build a squad, coaches have come and gone, inheriting ordinary rosters and making them look like terrible coaches (which they may or may not have been). Screaming for constant change, chopping and changing, getting rid of players/coaches is extremely short-sighted. I think many do not TRUST or BELIEVE that we can actually be successful for a long period of time consistently in the future, hence the scepticism surrounding BA etc. But we will never know if we don't try? What have we got to lose? It's been 29 years and many, many years have been looking for instant fixes with short term strategy in recruiting, retention and coaching. Surely we can see it does not work, has not worked, probably unlikely to work. For now we must give BA time to do what many believe he can. But if we don't, we will start the whole cycle again from scratch, new coach, new game plan, new recruitment, and another 3 years of building. Let's actually let the structure be properly built before we tear it down halfway through as we have done so often in the past!

    • X2 how many time does this have to be repeated???
    • Fine response. Nothing to add.
    • Agree
  • Optimist for me. I don't expect them to be any higher on the ladder to where they are currently considering our goings on this year. Everyone has ago at our edge defence especially Morgs and Hoppa, but you get defensive cohesion when you continually play with the same man outside you. I don't know the stats but the amount of times our centre and wing combinations have changed is ridiculous and that has been forced changes.Same goes for our halves. At least the halves combination is set for next year and a quick end to this Hoppa situation and another signing hopefully fixes the aforementioned problem barring injury. I've stated in an earlier blog next year I expect our win loss at 50% untill origin where our new combinations should be well and truely gelling where we make a run at the finals at the bottom end of the four or top six are my expectations. I think our forward pack will be brilliant in 2016.
  • Damn $6.50. Is that the actual price we are paying or an educated guess?
  • I'm willing to give BA til round 10 next year then decide if I want him to remain or gone. I've never asked for his head since he took over as coach but if we don't have 5 or 6 wins on the board by round 10 I'll join the group asking for him to be replaced.
  • Fence sitter because of the mess BA inherited ill gove him till the end of next year before i give judgment. Although with the foran clayse we maybe stuck with him anyways
  • FME, I saw us @$7 on Sportsbet
  • I think that BA has done well over the past two years considering what he has had to go through. All the rubbish with the top 25 and only being able to pick from 21 or something. He's had to deal with not being able to pick players due to 2nd tier cap whilst we have 8 other players playing at other clubs. This year he has had to put up with all the shocking injuries Parra have had this year. So I personally fell that BA has performed well over the past years with the cattle he has had to pick from. Give him two or three years when he has HIS team that he has brought together. Next year BA has my full support UNLESS we don't make the top 8! Really we should make the top 6 but I think that a top 8 is a realistic goal. If BA fails to do that then i feel as if then he should come under pressure. Will be interesting to see who Parra sign for the 2017 season next year. Hopefully BA can land us a outside back with potential.
