Perfect Irony

However many rounds it was ago, we came up against a titans outfit that was pretty much unassailable at home, the problem was, we had to win to keep our season alive. Pretty tough ask for a team that had been struggling for form and who went up against a team who had not been outside the eight all season. The match was do or die because who expected Parramatta to win 7 out of their last 8, considering they had 3 times grand finalists Melbourne (the week after) and the 2nd placed Bulldogs the week after that.As we all know, the Titans did beat us and were lucky due to errant kicking, but either way, it seemed that the Eels season was over. Over the next two months we saw a resurgence that reminded me of our 2001 side, not at first but you could slowly begin to draw out similarities between the two squads. Only difference was that this present squad had more experience and to be honest more talent within their ranks. We saw the likes of Jarryd Hayne, Daniel Mortimer and even the infamous Todd Lowrie come into their own as this team began to play like they really wanted it. Many of us questioned, have we left our run too late?, I too was guilty of this questioning. Game of the year (so far) Eels vs Tigers, I was quietly confident that if we could beat the Tigers, we would make the semi's. We beat the Tigers and had a pretty easy run home (except for eventual minor premiers). We cruised through our next games, until we hit a speed bump called the dragons. That's all it was really, a speed bump, we slowed down to encounter it, then sped up to get over the top of it. A fantastic match that was to watch and we found ourselves facing the 3rd placed Titans week 2.Fighting like a team who really wants to win this season and that is exactly what happened this week. What the ironic thing is, the Titans thought they must've ended our season, when in fact we ended their's, bet no one saw this coming...

HKF replied to Hector's discussion Young Joash papa extends
"The chances of him being our 6 next year are very low, if he was a serious consideration he would be playing 6 now with dylan at centre. I'll be very surprised if he is our starting 6 next season unless he gets a lot more time there this season. "
