Penrith foursome become Hayne-killers

Hey guys i found this crap on the daily telegraph webite. Do the Prancers think if they shut down one player they will win? do they forget we have another 12 players on the field? the more attention they pay to Hayne the more gaps will be create in defence allowing players lilke Mateo to have an absolute field day!anyways its all shit but thought id post it lol.THEY are the pillars of Penrith's finals surge. The Panthers "Fab Four''.The workhorse, the magician, Mr Football and the Tank. And together, Trent Waterhouse, Michael Jennings, Luke Lewis and Frank Pritchard are set to turn "Jarryd Hayne busters'' for tomorrow night's battle of the west at Parramatta Stadium."Definitely the senior guys have to lead the way,'' Lewis declared yesterday as they head into the most important game of the Panthers' season."We've been in these big games before and we know we have to lead the way. This is a massive game for us."The last time we played was like a semi-final and to have both teams' hopes on the semi-finals riding on this Friday night's game is going to be huge.''Boasting over 430 games between them, Lewis, Waterhouse and Pritchard are the hard-nosed internationals who have had to lift an extra cog following the season-ending injury of inspirational captain Petero Civoniceva as the Panthers have defied predictions of the wooden spoon to sit eighth on the ladder.Lewis delivers the pure football guile, slipping between ball-player, ball-runner, organiser or hit-up man. New skipper Waterhouse is the workhorse offloader and Pritchard - The Tank - is the wrecking ball on the fringes. Then there is Jennings. Pure lightning. The Panthers' Harry Potter who went try for try with Hayne in the Panthers' 38-34 victory over Parramatta eight weeks ago.Penrith coach Matthew Elliott early this week anointed the foursome his answer to the Hayne juggernaut but Lewis and Waterhouse are also adamant the side's young guns are up to the task."All the young guys like Walshy [Luke Walsh] and Wado [Wade Graham], the guys that direct us around the field, they play a big role in what we do as well,'' he said. "It's good to know we're not just one player one team. A lot of our team do a different job for us.''Waterhouse said while Hayne was the obvious threat it was up to the Panthers' big men to stop Eels' forwards Fuifui Moimoi, Nathan Hindmarsh and Nathan Cayless if they hope to curb the brilliance of the Parramatta fullback."It's definitely going to be won in the middle. Fuifui's been great and Hindy, he's always given 100 per cent for them,'' Waterhouse said."The whole pack's going well, so we're going to have to rise to the occasion if we're going to match them there.''Lewis said the Panthers had to focus on their own game."Haynesy's doing what he wants at the moment isn't he? He's got all that confidence and he's playing great footy, but we can't put too much emphasis on him,'' Lewis said."We just have to worry about what we've got to do first and combat it that way and worry about us rather than them. That's how we've got to approach it.''Penrith legend Greg Alexander said the Panthers quartet had to be at their best."They offer the team a mix of talent and we need every one of them at their best,'' he said. "Jennings was great last time we played Parramatta. He scored three tries and he's probably due for another game like that."Lewis is just one of those footballers that doesn't have a weakness ... Trent Waterhouse will give you 40 tackles. And then there's Frank Pritchard. He offers that ability to bust the line more else than anyone else.''

  • west tigers seemed confident to be shuuting down hayne; look wht happened
even if they do limit his involvement bring on mateo, morts and inu =)
  • blah, blah, blah. I've heard it all before. The Tigers said they were going to do the same and Hayne not only scored the winning try, with a chip and chase, he kicked 2 40/20's and made numberous tackle busts. Good Luck Panthers!!!!!!!
  • Panthers are talking themselves up a fair bit... notice Parra haven't said a word about what they're gonna do?

Penrith must be seriously worried, and with good reason. Hopefully Parra run up a cricket score.
  • They barely say anything about Hayne, its just the Telegraph trying to create another story on a slow news day. Every second article i read has the words "Jarryd Hayne" in it.

Lewis even says "we can't pay too much emphasis on him".

I'm actually getting a little tired of the Massive Hayne Hard-on the media has at the moment. With all this attention can only end poorly for Jarryd, i wish they would concentrate more on us as a team (although I am aware Hayne is carrying us) into the lead up to the finals, because when Hayne has a less than brilliant game, the Media are going to come down hard on him.
    • thats rite man. they need to focus on the team as a whole, how would you feel iF your out there on the field busting your guts out to help get a win and all the credit goes to the one player. its not a good thing to have enter the minds of players.
