Peni Terepo

HE almost had his contract torn up, but now Peni Terepo is ready to rip in with a new deal.Terepo was on the cusp of ending up on the NRL scrapheap last year after failing to inform Parramatta about a careless driving conviction in New Zealand in early 2017.He pleaded guilty to careless driving and refusing a blood-alcohol test, which resulted in him getting fined $15,000 and suspended for three games by the club. But the Tonga international has since found his way back into coach Brad Arthur’s good books, revealing he had signed a two-year extension with the club earlier this season.LIVE Stream every game of every round of the 2018 NRL Telstra Premiership on FOX SPORTS. SIGN UP NOW.“I re-signed with the club at the start of the year and am really happy to stay,” Terepo said.“I came over when I was 16 turning 17, played SG Ball here, and I hope to remain a one-club player. Coming over here was hard, to start a new life away from home.“But now that Parramatta’s home to me, it’d be hard if I was to move on.”The 26-year-old leads all Eels forwards in tackle-busts (31) to emerge as one of Arthur’s most devastating big men in an otherwise disappointing campaign. He paid credit to Arthur for giving him a chance following last year’s incident.“He’s always been loyal to me, stuck by my side, fought for me and he’s helped me in that part of my life, from my troubles,” Terepo said.“He’s been an awesome coach to me as well and helped me be a better player and person.“He had his time to spray me and then after that he was all for helping me. He really wanted me to stay at the club. His loyalty and faith in me really opened my eyes.“That motivated me to repay him in the way I’ve played and trained this year.”

  • Thanks Corey, a rare positive read.

  • So Peni has resigned.

    According to Zero tackle we now have 13 off contract players;

Dane Aukafolau, Kirisome Auva'a, Nathan Davis, David Gower, Jarryd Hayne, George Jennings, Cameron King, Jack Morris, Marata Niukore, Kaysa Pritchard, Ray Stone, Peni Terepo, Siosaia Vave, Tony Williams

    Who stays and who goes?

    • I think Stone, Hayne, Trex, Marata, George J, Pritchard maybe Morris and Vave ?

Aukafolau? Not sure about him as he’s defence is avg.

      • I hope we keep Aukafolau.. Stone.. Nuikore.. Jennings.. Morris.

If we resign hayne I give him one more year for $450.000 if he plays a good game n we win he get a top up of $2500

I give Terepo match payment only if he want to thank us for beening loyal he will take that

I give him $3000 a game if he plays from the bench $ 2800 if he plays for wenty $1500

        • This is why you clearly know nothing about football Arnold. Peni has been one of our better and most consistent forwards all year.

He has really cut his mistake rate down as well and he isnt exactly on big money

          • He's performed more consistently and had greater impact than some other, more highly paid players at the club this year.

However, ol' Penis hands does still occasionally make an appearance.

        • That'd be under minimum wage Paul.

    • His hands are shit but so is Taupau’s probably worse

    • Its not like the guy is on 500k a year. He probably on closer to 300k. Solid player at that price and way better value than Evans

  • About 3 seasons ago Peni had a shocking year with handling.  Nobody ever forgets that.  Since then his error rate, whilst not the best at Parra is nowhere near the worst, he is about average.  The stat that Peni leads in is that he rarely misses a tackle.

I reckon he is a good forward to have in our top 17.

"Pops, great points. This year, Hawkins held his own at 6 or 7 when Moses was in or out, so I’d keep him. But two points stand out:

Bellamy trusts Pezet at 6. Why?
