Peats to leave eels

Nathan peats to be forced out of eels. Any one else think this will break up the playing group and cause other players like Norman to leave.Personaly think they should just scrap this season and keep the same roster for next year. Peats said a few months ago he wants to stay long term at the eels why get rid of a bloke that bust his ass of and wants to stay loyal to the club

  • Worst idea ever

    • Well if Peats leaving will encourage others to leave as well it may not be such a bad idea. Not that I think that will happen but if it does??

  • Wouldn't it be hard to keep the same side next year if a lot of players are on back ended contracts? Wouldn't we be more over the cap next year?
    • Many of our current squad need to resigned so no big deal if we just ignore the NRLs directive and play for zero.
At the end of the day, the side wouldn't be playing for nothing, they would be playing to fark up every other sides chances of making the 8.
There's a lot to be motivated there.
  • Who says he's leaving?
    • Was just something on foxsports that I highly doubt is true just media putting more shit on us.
  • Not ideal but it is a position we have depth in. Peats is a player who plays extremely hard and with that comes injury. It may be a blessing in disguise where we can use an attacking hooker like Kaysa which is something this team has been missing.
  • I call BS
IDG would go first in my opinion.

Sorry but fuelling bs rumours grinds my gears - until the fat lady croons nothing is set in concrete.
    • IDG is second tier or low-end of the cap, wouldn't save you anything. If we have to move players on, I think we only have two options - Peats or Junior (and Jnr saves you very little either but could maybe bundled up with a player like Folau to get to the same spot). I think it's worth keeping in mind that we have never been a sure thing to keep Peats for next year anyway. That was always going to be dependent on a) how much Norman ends up taking of the cap and b) how much other demand there was for Peats. If we do have to lose a player, I'd have Peats at odds-on. Will hate to lose him, but it's probably the only option unless you want to give up on Norman.

    • Problem the eels face is that any who leave as a consequence of the need to get under the cap, is that its likely to need a higher profiled player rather than a good older one that may retire at years end.

Peats would likely be in demand but still a good option here, would rather it be JNR as he is going next year anyway, it all depends though on how much money is freed up.

"If you are going to do that better off just keeping him in Cup as a break glass option. Unless he is that much of a cancer and that negative to the squad that he needs to go."

"He's fine, just feel we should get a younger Winger. Many saying he's a goal kicker, ummm Moses is too and is pretty much the same in percentage. "
