Peats and salary cap release for season-ending injuries

Some people have suggested there might be salary cap relief for season-ending injuries. I cannot find any such a concession anywhere and I do not think it exists. Certainly it is no-where in the NRL discussion of the cap. http://www.nrl.com/nrlhq/referencecentre/salarycap/tabid/10434/default.aspx

I am not sure why it is not there as it is not something easy to rort. Perhaps it goes towards the aim of the cap to not have clubs spending more than they can afford.

    Assuming he does not get paid match payments for those games he is injured, we might save a few bucks there.

    We could do like a Menzies $1 + match payment fee contract?

    No chance Peats is on match payments, that is for those on minimum top 25 and below. Either way match payments count in next years Cap not this years so no cap relief there either.
