Paulo or Norman - BA needs to decide

As things stand at the moment, Parra are playing three halves. Paulo is being used as an extra half and often over calls the halves to get the ball in a first receiver role. Add Hayne into the mix and there are times when four players are playing a similar role. For mine, this stifles our play, rather than causing issues for the defence. So if both Paulo and Norman are to both be selected in the team, paulo needs to revert to a ball playing forward role, not the role where he takes the balls that should go to Norman or Sandow. I truly believe that our issues that we've had in attack relate to this dilemma.

  • I agree 60s, i actually think Paulo would be a lot better 5/8 than Corey, i recon this is why we have re-signed him

    • I know you haven't been a fan of Norman, but I also didn't realise u were a paulo fan? Or are u just saying that paulo would do a better job than Norman, haha

One comment I'd like to throw out there, I notice in a lot of norman's interviews he sounds very young, almost immature. Surely u can't deny his passes are pretty crisp, are u curious to see how he would be in a few years, matured, with a few years as a half under his belt?
    • The issue with Paulo playing 6 is he is too 1 dimensional. He has a good short passing game but that is all. Lacks a long pass and Kicking game. Norman has been ok this year, but seems to be lacking confidence (especially his running game) to win us games.
    • Anyone else judt snorted cornflakes outta their noses ???
  • Norman for me.

Paulo is really scraping the barrel marked shit 5/8ths.

I agree with 60s boy. Paulo is the problem. Get him out of the way and lets see how our 3 play makers can play without the crab overcalling and stifling the attack.

  • I'd like to see our halves play a bit closer to the ruck and as give Hayne some ball a bit closer to where he can really cause some damage. I don't like the idea of any ball-playing forwards anymore, I don't think it's working for the Dogs and it's taking away from their biggest strength which is their size. If it's a set-play where one of our forwards takes it to the line and hands it out the back then it's okay once in a while but the main point of a forward is to make as many metres as possible.

    • See attached - ipad won't allow inclusion
  • Fair points Micka, yes he is young and i agree seems a bit immature, his best footy should be to come for sure, lets hope he has some.

Im not a Paulo fan, i just think he would do a better job than Corey.

    • Snake we haven't locked horns before but seriously - u can't say keeping paulo is a better option than Corey... Even keeping Corey as back up for matterson - paulo guarantees the eels long term mediocrity
