Paul Kent discusses reports of Eels salary cap cheating

Fox Sports journalist Paul Kent believes the Parramatta Eels having nothing to worry about regarding accusations of more salary cap cheating.
It comes after a whisteblower alleged that players were given cheap rent in a bid to rort the salary cap.
“Why Parramatta are categorically denying (claims that they are cheating) and why I think they might be on safe ground here, is because Parramatta asked the NRL: ‘you tell us what you believe the rent should be?'”, Kent told NRL 360.
Fellow co-host Ben Ikin also came to the Eels’ defence, commending club chairman Max Donnelly’s stance.
“So that’s why Donnelly was so strong saying ‘we have been an open book with the NRL’ (in regards to how much the rent was costing players),” Ikin said.

Kent replied: “But this whistleblower was not privy to that conversation. Therefore, she was not aware that the NRL played a part in determining what the rent is.”
The Eels were previously found guilty of breaching the salary cap over a four-year period in 2016 and were stripped of premiership points and fined $1 million.
