Sometimes I wonder if we will ever win another premiership. I was looking at other sporting codes and there are teams similar to us where they had a great era/team and won a lot of trophies/premierships but since that period they have never recaptured it, Chicago in the NBA, NY Islanders in the NHL, a couple of teams in Football I can think of etc. I hate that the club's success is only defined by one period, we have had other good decades but because there was no premiership those players are not really remembered or celebrated.
Could be even worse ...St Kilda in AFL has only ever won it once. Way back in 1966.
Or North Sydney, 1922 & 1923 were their only two comps before being kicked out in 1999. 76 years for them.
Yeah 77 year premiership drought which is the longest in either NRL or Super League history. They also had the longest grand final drought of any team, 56 years, they made it in 1943 and that was their last grand final.
I think St Kilda are the worst Australian sporting team of all time. One premiership in 1966, but they were founded in 1873 so it took nearly 100 year to win the first one, now it's nearly a 60 year wait for the next, plus they have 27 wooden spoons.
