Has to be done - Tahu demands a lot of respect amoungst the players at the club and their is no way Parramatta could act in a contrary way to NSW and keep Johns on the books. To do so would mightily p off not just Tahu but guys at the club with indigenous or polynesian background specifically and also the rest of the team who are all backing Tahu no doubt.
Also just on this topic, I think is just unfortunate for all concerned. Johns probably had very little idea of the harm his comments were causing or I am sure he would not have made them in front of a longtime colleague and friend in Tahu.
It doesn't make the comments right but it does challenge the validity of Tahu not just confronting Johns personally rather than deliberately placing it in the public forum.
If Tahu is concerned that their is a more systemic vilification or discrimination against indiginous people in Rugby League (beyond the comments of Johns) then he needs to come out and give examples.
If not (which I suspect is the case given the large representation of indigenous aussies in the NRL in playing and coaching/admin roles) the he really should have tried to keep it between him and Johns.
LOL im an aussie born n bred , ive been called white shit , white f...... , white c...... , and the list goes on , Gee i understand getting up set but names can never hurt you .
Yes indeed - johns & tahu together at training would be a disaster.......so Joey's gotta go.
I applaud Tahu for taking such a radical stance regarding Johns innapropriate racial slurs...........OTHERWISE....when will it stop. Putting principle before personal rewards (State Of Origin).... IN LIFE...is always the CORRECT move. If I was Timana's kids, I would be proud of my Dad............and if I was a kid being taunted about the colour of my skin........I would take strength from Timana's action by accepting ZERO TOLERANCE in this matter.
For those of you that are ignorant enough to see this mess as nothing more than a GAFF on Johns' behalf - I challenge you to think about this.................WOULD YOU say the things that Johns said (time and time again) AT YOUR WORKPLACE ??? In front of your peers........OF COURSE NOT........WHY? ....cause it's innapropriate and NOT tolerated IN TODAYS WORKPLACE........and if you said such things you know that there are SERIOUS consequences for YOU to pay.
Now correct me if I am wrong.......but Andrew Johns WORKPLACE is no different to yours or mine........WE ALL have to play by the same rules, dont we ??
BUT what makes me really dissapointed is that some of these guys like Johns just DON'T GET IT. Remember, Andrew Johns is rated by his peers to be an orniment of the game & has been VOTED into the TEAM OF THE CENTURY...........and whether he likes it or not this means that he is an official torch bearer for Rugby League......and with that.......it is ex players like Johns (who enjoy the status of LIVING LEGEND) that NEED to keep the flames & spirit of the GOOD THINGS that Rugby League offers ALIVE - like community, mateship, teamwork, digging in together when the going gets tough, celebrating the wins, self discipline, a high work ethic and above all LEADERSHIP.
You would think that after BOTH Johns brothers previous MELTDOWNS due to OTHER SOCIALLY UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOUR....that this family MIGHT.....just MIGHT have LEARNED a lesson or two by now
Nope
He's still just a boofhead after all
and this is why Peter Sterling will always be a HERO to me
Why not bring JT back as halves coach.
Rumour has it he wasn't too bad in his day (lol) and we know he can coach.
That's Jason Taylor btw not that flea from the Cowgirls.
I Rather approach Tommy Raudonikis, at least he's got heart.
The only thing JT would be good for is a punching bag, ooh wait David Fa'alogo, has already done that.
"If you are happy with Moses getting injured every year when he is involved with Origin the you must really enjoy the excitement of Spoonbowl. Origin will do fine without Moses playing."
"The horse didn't bolt.Poppa..it walked out of the stable as we all watched and wondered if it would really go. It did.
We can still make ourselves useful. How about "high ground" Aust passports/citizenship for threatened Pacific…"
"Why would it be hush hush if they said they are upset him leaving, they haven't heard he's not leaving and media saying he's signed.
Only way it's hush hush is if he is actually staying."
