Parramatta lock Nathan Brown tested his value with clubs like Manly but has opted to remain at the Eels to be part of Brad Arthur’s premiership plan.

Parramatta lock Nathan Brown is set to sign a multi-year contract extension at the Eels only months after the club pulled their offer for the star forward.

In a big boost for the Eels, Brown will recommit to the blue and gold despite testing his value on the open market with rivals like Manly.

Back in March, Parramatta pulled their offer from the table after the NSW back-rower chose not to accept it before a deadline on the deal expired.

The Eels tabled a two-year, $1.2m deal that Brown was unwilling to sign.

The club gave him a deadline to bring the matter to a head, but they have been unable to land his signature.

Brown was also reportedly upset that the Eels could offer halfback Mitch Moses a longer-term four-year deal when he thought the club could only afford to table a two-year deal.

Despite these concerns, it’s understood the Parramatta No 13 will agree to remain at club to be part of coach Brad Arthur’s premiership plan.

Brown will also play against the Sydney Roosters on Friday night despite hurting his hip in last weekend’s win over Canterbury.

Arthur confirmed his gun lock would take on the Roosters.

“Straight after the (Bulldogs) game he said he would be right next week,” Arthur said.

“It’s a hip pointer, but Browny is tough.

“These sort of games, it wouldn’t have mattered if he had broken his leg, he would be right to play.

“He just wants to get out on the field and play for his mates. He loves these occasions. He isn’t going to be 100 per cent, but he is good enough to be out there on the field.”

  • Get it done

    • He is only 28 lol, not 30. He should be offered a multi year deal.

  • Awesome news. He's a fantastic onfield forward leader.

  • Great news

  • Should NOT be playing this week.

Love the guys passion and commitment, but he has got to look after himself.

No official announcement (that I have seen so far) so this remains a positive rumour at this time.

  • Great news

  • Parra of just a few years ago would have paid $750k 4 years for Brown and lost a couple of players as a result.

    • we have changed. We no longer need him as much and have other quality forwards. as can be seen by his reduced minutes

    • For sure. Because if we didn't he would've gone elsewhere, possibly for less. And because we lacked leaders and quality forwards we would've missed him badly on and off the field. Now he is absolutely replaceable, which allows us to negotiate from a position of strength.

    • Can you imagine us here back in the Kearney era salivating over signing Brown ?  We'd be happy with them signing him for 3 mil a year for 10 years .  He'd be rumoured to be down at Cabramatta Golf course discussing properties in Wentworthville , someone would know a bloke at the RTA who heard he'd applied for an ETag , all of a sudden someone would've seen him having yum cha with Trent Barret , then Browns value would be less and all of a sudden we'd all be saying his 3 mil a year was massive overs anyway and we don't like the injury prone prick , we hate Brown ,we can't compete with The Dogs under the table brown paper bags ,.... then all of a sudden Browns spotted out with Dylan Brown taking a leak at a club and all of a sudden we should up our offer to Brown , he's our future and will attract other Origin players , sign him now , make him  Captain ........
