Parramatta Lunch Today - Men of League

I was wondering if anyone on this site is going to this special lunch event today? A Men of League fundraising event, with some of the old legends. Hosted by Cayless and Steve Edge, with the Great John Peard (known for his 'bomb' kicks) telling a few stories. It's a three course meal, with a few drinks included and even has Rash Ryder the comedian.

I reckon it looks like a fun event for Eels fans, especially after some of the recent games & our season in general.

  • Good to see its sponsored by Simplicity Funerals. Finally a sponsor who understands the state of our season this year. Dead and buried.
  • Would like to see them advertise these types of events on 1ee site. I would have gone if I knew it was on.

    • Maybe GP can be the new 1eyedeels social events coordinator....
  • I attended the luncheon along with two other members of 1EE. Terrific event.

Nathan Cayless, Steven Edge and John Peard were terrific on the mic, particularly Edge and Peard who were downright hilarious and had a wealth of stories to share from their playing days.

It was held in a very informal setting which allowed the ex-players to mingle with fans and share their own stories with fans face-to-face. Without having to prompt them at all Nathan and Jason Cayless, Andrew Ryan and Michael Buettner all came up to have a yarn while more Parra identities like Peter Wynn, Brad Drew and Ken Thornett were also in attendance.

  • I attended yesterday as well and really enjoyed the afternoon. Your right in that Steve Edge & John Peard were great, I loved the way Steve Edge gee'd up Steve Sharp early in the arvo.

Never heard Bobby McCarthy speak before but enjoyed his stories he was a great value. For the $80 ahead or whatever it was it was good value and I hope to attend more of these in the future.

  • I wanted to take my grandfather along because he would've loved to have met Thornett. Unfortunately he's got the flu at the moment so wasn't up to going.

    • And Super i think your usual stop on the way home at Kens of Kensingtons might have been a bit too much for for the old Tiger, its probably better you keep that sort of depravity away from the oldies, there from a different generation, its best not to frighten them and give them another reason to lose all hope in what the world has become.

What does he think about your 'lifestyle' choices? or do you keep him in the dark about it?

      Cheers

  • I was actually thinking the same - I should have posted this a few weeks earlier, rather than the night before. Quite a few more people would have gone, if they knew about it.

"Agree. He was giving to Reed who clearly hates the Eels and Reed has no idea what he's talking about. "
