Parramatta Leagues club director Lawrence Shepherd, who planned  to run on a ticket with former Eels boss Denis Fitzgerald to oppose the current board at next month's elections, had his membership suspended for three years at a hearing staged on Thursday night.  The decision means Shepherd, a respected businessman who has a poker machine business that exports to 35 countries, won't be able to run on the Parramatta Professionals ticket. It was alleged he behaved poorly inside a NSWRL corporate box at a Bruno Mars concert last March. The other charges of misconduct concerned conversations in which it was alleged he threatened club executives with their jobs.AdvertisementIt was alleged Shepherd acted in an inappropriate manner in the corporate box by asking loudly for alcohol. It was also suggested he tipped a beer over then NRL chief operating officer Jim Doyle, who is now chief executive at the New Zealand Warriors. Doyle, however, told Fairfax Media before the hearing he had no issue with Shepherd and he even suggested the incident was nothing more than an accident. Shepherd had publicly pledged his allegiance to the Parramatta Professionals ticket which includes Fitzgerald,  a former Eels international who ran the club for 30-years before he was voted out of office in 2009. Fitzgerald , who is the chairman of the NSW Combat Sports Authority and serves on three other boards, said his motivation to run against the board he helped put in power two years ago to depose Roy Spagnolo was to help return the club to its "former greatness".

  • Good riddance
  • On your bike you clown, and do the club a favour and stay away after the 3 years is up.

  • Serves him right for attending  a f##ken Bruno  Mars concert.

    • What's wrong w Bruno tom :-) lol
    • Who the fuck is Bruno Mars? Did he invent the Mars Bar or something?
    • Now I'm glad I don't who this loser is.
  • Bahahahahahaha!
  • So Fitzy is already on 4 boards and wants to be on a 5th? Henry's Dream has already stated he spoke to Sharp who advised that the emporer can't stand in the election but if he were some how able to it certainly wouldn't be a good thing with him only spending one-fifth of his time looking after the Eels, certainly wouldn't return us to former greatness.

  • That's gold.
  • I told people about what a cowboy this bloke was and what a Fitzy stooge he is and i was called a 3p sympathiser for it.  Well nice to know i was bang on the money about this bloke.  Good riddance to bad rubbish.
