Revealed: 2017’s most supported NRL clubs, according to Roy Morgan Research

EVER wanted to know the fan base sizes of all the NRL clubs?

Roy Morgan Research has crunched the numbers to find out which team has the most supporters.

Topping the ladder in no surprise is Brisbane with 1.02 million fans.

According to Roy Morgan, the Broncos have held No.1 spot since the NRL was formed in 1998.

Melbourne sit second with 828,000 supporters, while Parramatta is the most followed Sydney outfit with 457,000 fans, just ahead of St George Illawarra and the Wests Tigers.

Reigning premiers Cronulla sit equal with the Roosters on 224,000 fans, but Roy Morgan believes their 2016 title will see their black, white and blue supporter base grow in coming seasons.

The Warriors sit at the bottom of the ladder, but their total is only made up of Australian-based supporters.

“The strong support for the Broncos is evident when one considers the home attendances for NRL clubs. The Broncos are the only NRL club to average home attendances of over 30,000 spectators,” Roy Morgan’s executive chairman Gary Morgan said.

“ ... The Storm’s home attendances are also second only to the Broncos.

“Queensland rivals the North Queensland Cowboys with 608,000 supporters also have the league’s third best home attendance behind the Broncos and Storm.”

  • I can inform you slip, the Internet knows more about you than you think, everything from what pizza toppings you prefer to your sexual porn preferences, and let's hope you're not visiting multiple daily transgender sites.

    • Yep its called data analytics

  • So nearly 1/4 of Melbournites support the Storm? Yeah right. They don't even know the difference between League and Union. News coverage of League down there is dreadful.
    • Not all storm supporters are in Melbourne and also it doesn’t state level of support .

would have been similar back’ in the day , numbers of swans supporters in Sydney when they were only afl team . Could have put half of Sydney if not more as swans supporters and majorIty would never have seen even a game of there’s in tv in their lifetime

  • I think the dogs have a lot more fans than that.

    • Agreed and i would have thought saints and souffs too; what it does show is the widespread fans across Sydney teams. One city teams have so much advantage and the sad point is the NZ warriors.

TPA’s in some of these one city teams and think we can see why there has been little done on them......

  • I doubt the Storm have a big supporter base in Sydney for example, unlike Dragons and Eels fans across the border into QLD.

  • Most of these Chad Morgan polls are bogus.

  • 400+ thousand fans lolll where are they at the home
    games?
  • if you look at the three teams above Parramatta, they are one city teams and some of them have a huge area like NQ, MEL, and BRI
