I think american spelling on jail is the correct one, its pronounced with a j not G, its not a Gaol, where does the Gay come from, the yanks have it right on this one sorry Yobz, poms have it wrong.
We dont call Jimmy's Gimmy's, why call Jails Gaols?
It's derived from colonial English - not American. Melbourne Gaol, Maitland Gaol, Dubbo Gaol, etc
Poms have plenty of their language very stupidly written, just because the poms said its the way to do things doesnt mean its right although they expect everybody to take it as fact.
