GOLD COAST have released exciting utility Josh Hoffman from the final year of his contract to accept a deal with Parramatta next season.
After missing out to the Titans in their pursuit to bring Jarryd Hayne back to the Eels, they are set to unveil Hoffman as their no.1 for the next three years.
Foxsports.com.au revealed on Wednesday that the Eels made a major play for Hoffman, 28, as they look to replace Roosters bound custodian Michael Gordon.
Having been told earlier in the year that he was free to explore his options for 2017, Hoffman and his management met with the Eels last week where he was put through a physical.
A centre-fullback, Hoffman shunned interest from the Super League in order continue playing in Australia.
Brad Arthur wants an experienced bigger body to help young gun Bevan French as he continues getting adjusted to life in the NRL.
A lean frame, French has impressed on the wing but still has some filling out to do before playing regular No.1.
Hoffman was granted a release by the Titans on Wednesday afternoon to secure his long-term future with the club stacked for backline depth next year following the arrival of Hayne and impending arrival of Super League gun Dan Sarginson.
The Eels are expected to make an official announcement on Thursday after the paperwork has been finalised by the NRL.
The addition of Hoffman is yet another major coup for the club as they continue to rebuild the roster following the release of Kieran Foran and retirement of Anthony Watmough.
