PARRAMATTA Eels director Tanya Gadiel late yesterday stepped aside from a prominent Western Sydney board role for NSW Health, as pressure mounts on remaining board members at the club.
NSW Health Minister Jillian Skinner told The Telegraph last night that Ms Gadiel had the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District Board because of the Eels scandal.
Ms Skinner said the Board’s chairman, Associate Professor Andrew Keegan, told her late yesterday that he had accepted Ms Gadiel’s offer “to stand aside pending the outcome of the NRL’s investigations into claims about the Parramatta NRL Club board”.
This follows the publication of the transcripts of explosive meeting tapes where Ms Gadiel talked about the “f-word” — alleged “fraud” — in relation to one of the club’s many dodgy third-party deals.
While the “Gang of Five” Eels officials are already suspended, the emergence of details of the NRL’s breach notice on the Eels has ratcheted up the pressure on remaining directors who figured prominently in the tapes, particularly Ms Gadiel, the former state MP for Parramatta, and Andrew Cordwell.
The four remaining Eels directors, Gadiel, Cordwell, Geoff Gerard and Paul Garrard, are due to hold an unscheduled board meeting this morning, which was postponed from yesterday.

So loses her NSW Health Board spot until the Eels investigation is concluded, retains her Eels Board spot at the same time? Yeh that makes sense.
Realistically she was part of stuffing this clubs health, so not a good advocate for anything really. Guess she hangs in with the eels board hoping beyond hope she can retain some form of spotlight. Have a feeling though she will likely need a very good professional to help her in other areas of her health.
Takes time for some (includes me on many occasions) to fully understand what is really needed.
From a pure personal perspective I kick myself for not remaining a member & tossing it in after Spags first year.
Only good thing perhaps at the moment is, that as each day passes judgement day gets closer, & with that the prospects of the new beginning, thing is Phil as you have been saying is to get it right next time so it can stay right.
Certainly crisis is the word for how it is now, but gee it should never have got this point.
Can't believe that any of them are still there, boggles the mind it really does.
Maybe the biggest problem with them all is some form of puffed up pride that prevents them from both seeing reality for what it is & therefore cannot accept the reality of their abject need to resign.
Their puffed up pride may think that they are above any form of accountability, & as such they are the only ones that are capable of fixing it. They stand in front of a mirror & point the finger at the image & ask Mirror Mirror on the wall who is only one who can save the eels, is it not you? & jump & say yes it really is me & its all about me.
