Yet to make his NRL debut, youngster Savelio Tamale could be on the move away from the St George Illawarra Dragons with a rival club showing interest in the prospect.

An Under-19s New South Wales standout, Tamale appeared in 12 games for the Dragons NSW Cup team last year, averaging 130 running metres and 61 tackles for the season.

Currently weighing up his future at the Red V and yet to sign a contract extension with the club, Tamale is reportedly gaining interest from the Parramatta Eels, per News Corp.

This comes after the Eels were also listed as one of the clubs that were interested in signing Tamale's teammate Zac Lomax and have been continually linked to him.

In his two games for the Dragons reserve-grade team this year, he has made nine tackle busts, 18 tackles (78.3 per cent tackle efficiency) and is running an average of 149 metres per game.

Before playing at the club, Tamale was a member of the NSW Waratahs Under-18s squad and was poached from the 15-man game.

News Corp has also reported that Zac Lomax has been told that the club won't hold talks with his management over his future until after Round 4 - two weeks away.

  • Why would they set a round 4 timeframe on Lomax ?  Weird .

Maybe they have a young bloke coming through that needs a few rounds to be ready for NRL which would sound positive for us in regards to a potential release .

  • The Eels should be going harder for Savelio than Lomax. From watching his highlights he looks the goods, young, fast, can tackle, run a line and create. Perfect.

    • sounds like maybe we are now? i guess also worth noting we also have guns coming through in the other penisini brother, i thinnk they rate arthur miller stephens too.

      • If mililler Stephen's didn't get injured he would of been a regular this season

        • You think Trent? The way BA shafted him after his debut showed they were either not impressed, felt he needed to beef up and develop much more or both. He would not of beaten out Russell but he could have played this Sunday.

Plus he would have been the 1 in NSW Cup allowing Talagi to play Centre.

    • We need established players not young blokes with potential

      • I think we need someone that adds something that we don't already have..... speed, with the new downtown rule, teams that can attack from the back are going to be pretty lethal I reckon. Gutho has great ball playing vision, so if he had someone quick around him, it adds another dimension to our team

      • Exactly right.

Potential only gets you so far.

We need quality backs that have played a fair bit of 1st grade NRL not other clubs reserve graders. They could be just as bad as our reserve graders.

  • Smokes and mirrors

  • The very fact that we, as supporters are getting our hopes up because the club is very tenuously linked to a reserve grade youngster shows what a shit show the recruitment people have put us in.

"Speaking of juniors ...we should get a good Qld Cup feeder team.
We can then get a bunch of Qld players but leave them up there to thrive in their local environment."
