There's definitely a lot of familiar faces in the SG Ball side and I am so happy that we have kept hold of a few in there and there's going to be a lot of competition for spots, especially fullback because in that squad I see 3 fantastic fullbacks in: Anthony Layoung, Bevan French and Dillon Khoury maybe an option is to move Layoun to centre or something? Also some good second-rowers in there too: Tyrell Fuimaono, Jack Morris, Kadince Christensen, Denzel Tonise and Simon Fonua. Some good props too: Cameron King, Alex Twal, Jarron Costelloe.

In the end it should be a good year for the SG Ball team and I expect a top 3 finish and possibly a premiership and I'm not too sure of the Harold Mats team but I am definitely looking forward to see how they go.

  • Hopefully some superstars in the making who play first grade for the mighty Eels
    • Yes it's great to see we've kept and promoted a fair few of them. Phil has massive raps on Joey Tramontana.
      I remember reading the article when we signed Kadince Christensen a couple of years ago, he had big raps on him too. And if I recall correctly, Dillon Khoury was regarded as really hot property after being the standout player in an Indeginous knockout tournament.
      Young front rower Cameron King came off the bench and single handedly won the Harold Matt's Cup Grand Final (I think it was) for Parramatta against a previously undefeated South Sydney team.
      Can anyone confirm if the following names I have listed are any relation to their name sakes currently playing NRL ?
      Carr. Is he related to South Sydney's back up half back Ryan Carr ?
      Tafua. Could he be related to former Parra jnr Mark Tafua who just played in Manly's GF loss ?
      There are 2 Fonua's listed for us next season. Any relation to the Fonua who made his debut in the world club championship last February for the Storm ?
      PRICE = Ray Price ?
      2 x FIELD icluding the full name CRAIG FIELD = Craig Field the former South Sydney half back ?
      MORRIS = do the twins have a younger brother ?
      GARDINER = might be spelt differently to former Parra jnr now at the Sharks Nathan.
      CAMPBELL = Preston Campbell ?
      ROSS = Ben ROSS also at Sharks ?
      PATTERSON = Corey Patterson ?
      CHAN = Former Eel under Brian Smith, ALEX CHAN
    • Agree Daniel Alvaro looks the goods and has size
  • Joey is going to go a long way in the NRL, he's a leader and is fearless in leading from the front he gets his forwards on a roll too. Not sure about Khoury as he wasn't in Parra's SG Ball team last year but instead played for the Greater Western Sydney team that is a mixture of Parra and Penrith juniors. Cameron King won the Grand Final with 2 tries next to his name but I don't think he would have had that roll-on if it were not for the rest of the forwards doing their job, I am very excited to see how Cameron goes this year; he's a very big boy and once he learns how to use his size against boys his height/weight he'll be better for it.

    Not too sure about all the relations but I assume Tony Taufua would be related to JORGE Taufua who played for Manly on the weekend.

    • Thanks for your reply Ham.
      Yeah, we've been dying to see some really big boppers in our NRL forward pack for a long time. Not since Mark Tookey have Parra had someone huge in their pack. I have high hopes for Will Bugden, son of Parra premiership winner in 86' Geoff Bugden who together with his front row partner Terry Leabeater were nicknamed "The book ends". Geoff was also nicknamed "Australia's Refridgerator" after the barnstorming NFL Gridiron player in America back in the 80's.

      EDIT - CORRECTION - i actually meant to say "JORGE TAFUA" the Manly winger, and NOT Mark Tafua the former Sharks & Knights forward.
      I hope Tony.T becomes an ever better player than his older brother Jorge like so many of them do these days.
      • Not sure if young Bugden will make first grade, he's been solid but I'd put: Pauli Pauli and Daniel Alvaro in front of him we also have young forwards in Mannah, Lussick, Mossop also in front of him and I think in 3 years time it will be hard to crack a front-row consisting of Mossop, Mannah, Pauli and Alvaro and it will take an exceptional to crack it.

        • I've got really big wraps on Daniel Alvaro. An old fashioned hard working front rower ! He will play top grade.
          • Alvaro is definitely a workhorse and will always make the hard hit-up no one else wants to do and he will always make the tackle 80 minutes into a game. He is the sort of player we need in first grade and hopefully he develops a little bit more as I think he has a little bit more to learn about the game but he is definitely a future first grade player.

          • Alvaro actually reminds me a lot of Hindy, with his tremendous work-rate in attack and defence.
            Was really good to watch him play before he was injured. Gave our forward pack a bit more starch, go forward and commitment.

  • I coached James T and the kid is a beast , Give him the ball from 10 out and he's hard to stop but all the kids I worked with rave about Joey T

Towards the end of the 2025 NRL season I think a majority of Eels fans had some form of optimism for 2026 hoping it might be a possible top 8 position for the Eels. However this year has turned into one of the worst so far on record with Eels…
