Parramatta Eels Rugby League Club has re-signed five players on contract extensions.

Brad Takairangi, David Gower, Ray Stone and Andrew Davey will remain with the Club next year, and Marata Niukore has extended his contract until the end of the 2022 season.

Parramatta Eels Club Head Coach Brad Arthur said, “We’re really happy to be in a position to retain our players. There’s a lot of NRL experience amongst them which is valuable to our young group of players, and for the juniors coming through.”

Brad Takairangi has played 168 NRL games, represented New Zealand and recently captained the Cook Islands team for the 2021 World Cup World Cup qualifier.

David Gower joined the Eels in 2014 and has played over 100 NRL games, while Marata Niukore made his first grade debut with the Eels last year, and with a solid 2019 season under his belt he has become a key forward in the team.

Ray Stone has played 7 NRL games since being elevated into the Eels first grade squad in 2018 after graduating from the Eels U20 grand final squad in 2017.

Andrew Davey was a key player in our Wentworthville Magpies team which reached the grand final this year, and was subsequently awarded the Bob O’Reilly NSW Cup Player of the Year at 2019 Ken Thornett Medal.

  • No Michael Jennings?

    • Nope not currently. Which leaves me to wonder are we going to go with Parry or Taka in the centres for 2020 and if we are legit clearing the books for Latrell Mitchell in 2021

      • Read where MJ will sign after the rep season has finished as he is away, seems that Matterson will be signing as soon as he returns and couple of things sorted although agreement has been reached.

I also notice Terepo is included in next years squad. but gee there's a few players off contract end of next year.

  • Mick's already done. People forget that.

Fkn Taka FFS. Reggie's only . Bloody bludger, useless dickless etc etc.

    • I thought Taka had a solid year despite all the critics he gets. He's worth another 1yr deal.

      • Agreed. A much improved player. From now on Gower, Taka and M Jennings are best to have a few NRL breaks during the 2020 season to refresh them, this includes playing in our reserves or just having a week off here and there. Gower more so playing in the reserves unless we have too many injuries amongst our forward stock.

      • No and fcuk no.

Taking up a spot in the top 30 and money off the cap.

If we want to do better we need to buy or promote better players than a bum of a reserve grade player. I've watch him very closely over three years. It's shameful how he even has an NRL contract. But we resign him.

        • Perhaps you don't know the game as well as you think so ?

          • Compared to yourself. I'm doing great thanks

      • Its a reference to a Chevy Chase rant. But hey you can't do better than that. So move on
