Geez, another Eels great jumps on board the ParraFirst train. The Bear didn't mince his words either about 3P. Two of my favourite players - the Crow and Bear.
Well done guys thats a great endorsement and comical irony after the players stayed at Micks recently. I'm not sure we should really follow what ex players think as we did that before with 3P (and again now with the Grothe's) but I understand and appreciate that it needs to be done and it will help your ticket. Both will have an impact with the people who still remember the 80's, for me they are really fading (probably from all the Vodka required to deal with the last few years....) do you have anyone more recently retired lined up ?
I would like to know who Sterlo would back, getting him on board would be a master stroke and winner for any ticket with his media exposure, but if you have any association with Fitzy I wouldnt expect that to happen or did they fix things up ? (I cant keep up with the Days of our lives at the EELS)
I'm expecting both Peter Wynn and Ron Hilditch to jump on board also as they historically opposed 3P from the start.
to be honest with you, I'm very saddened that something like this divides the club legends, it was sad in 2008/09 and it's sad now! ...why can't we all work together in all this??..I hope once the dust settles in a couple of weeks we can all unite as one.
HD, you know what the big problem is? The current structure almost mandates that tickets are formed, and that promotes divisions. Because you have to have members across the two boards it places a lot of emphasis on aligned candidates having a controlling majority so they can influence who stands for which boards and that's where it becomes hugely political. If the PNRL had its own board voted on by members, and the club also did its best to provide a decent communications platform for all candidates, then it would give independents a chance. I keep saying that you have to fix the clubs problems at its very core, and the core of any club is its board structure and voting mechanisms, because until we get that right this is what we will have to suffer.
