I'm not escaping the fact that the Eels were terrible in yesterday's game against Manly. Waqa Blake and that whole side were horrible and leaked tries like a broken water main. However, I'm not sure if anyone else noticed that Manly's tactics were to blatantly upset the Eels structure by using obvious dirty tactics and some which were ignored by officials. The Eels definitely need Niukore back in the centres, Brown back and Smith.

And I have zero issues with them being dirty as long as the officials let the whole game flow that way . But they didn't , they allowed them to collar a player merely running back onside yet sent a player of ours to the bin for being head butted in the shoulder .
Haha , nobody anymore . They had the bunker removed and replaced with more suitable staff .
Dirty? Not sure about that. But yeah they got let off easy with two matters:
1- DCE "inadvertent contact"
2 - "you lose the advantage"
Both could have been issues for manly if the luck went the other way. 1 would have been 10 mins because he touched the attacking player before the ball in a try scoring situation, and 2 could have been a penalty.
Manly were very lucky. But ended the better side particularly over Waqa Blake.
Mate did you not see Nathan Brown blowing up about the work he was copping in the tackles ? They were attacking the head with forearms all game . Dirty may be too strong a word , aggressive I'd say . But either way it's illegal and they know it , but it worked and they won .
Actually I do remember them getting away with a couple of facials and at least one occasion where one of their plays leaned his elbow on browns head as he got up.
Played us the same way St George did .
Couple of the veteran coaches have BA ball figured out. We struggle when we're not playing down hill. Have for years and his only answer is more collisions , fast starts and owning effort areas.
I think we need to play more direct in those games. Work the middles over instead of Junior standing in the centres and going left to right and throwing desperation cut out balls. Reed can control the game by working the tacklers over then hitting the edges. Just my thoughts.
Paulo is a good player , but he's lacking aggression . Too much Kava .
I noticed both Reed and Nathan Brown got worked over by Manly a lot during the game and it certainly had negative results for both of them. Des Haslers Manly teams did the same with the Storm when both of them were fighting out finals matches.
Spot on. I was at the game with my son & I said to him after 10 minutes this is the Dragons game all over again. We struggle against a fast moving defensive line (offside in my opinion) & aggression. For some reason we just don't recover & didn't look like getting back into the game. I think Manly are a good team that underperformed early in the season so I can almost live with that defeat but look at what the Dragons have done since they beat us. We've got no plan B when we are up against defence like that.
Manly looked like they were offside all night. They might be fast but seriously not that fast, no team is.
