Parra's 2019 Contracted Players

I’ve posted this to clarify what I believe is the correct position with Parramatta’s contracted players for 2019. The official stated position by the NRL on the number of contracted players is shown below, this is taken from https://www.nrl.com/news/2018/11/01/publishing-of-nrl-squads-to-provide-greater-transparency/ )

‘Under the terms of the CBA between the NRL and RLPA, each club is required to have the contracts of a minimum of 24 players registered by November 1. Clubs then have until March 1 to register 29 players and June 30 to finalise their top 30 squad. The updated squads will be published on NRL.com at noon the day after each deadline.’

We complied with 24 players on the November 1 and 29 players on the March 1 deadlines.

The 29 players we had registered on 1 March are shown below, this is published on the NRL website at https://www.nrl.com/news/2019/03/04/2019-nrl-rosters-official-squads-updated-for-all-teams/ and was current as at 04 March, Subsequent to this, we signed Matt McIlwrick on 20 March and ParraEels even commented in their press release that that signing completed our top 30 squad.

Given Kaysa’s retirement we are now back to 29 contracted players. If/when Timmy moves on that will take us back to 28 contracted players

  • Add stephano utaikamonu and parras new signing matt lodge

    • Stefano is a Development Player along with Parry, Fainga'a and Dunster ( I think). My understanding is they can play NRL after 30 June, I'm not sure if they occupy one of the 30 spots. I can't find the NRL stated rule on this.

      • I found what looks like a fairly reputable comment on Development Players, it would appear they can play NRL after 30 June and not count in the top 30 https://www.sportingnews.com/au/league/news/nrl-clubs-development-p...

  • Beven French is an real chance to be gone by June 30.

  • So has Tim mannah moved on or not??? What is the go?

  • Nice blog Mayor.

With 28 players (Mannah is gone) on the books we'll have 2 positions to fill and with a reported $500,000 plus to spend, one could conclude that we will have 2 new recruits joining the club within 2 weeks that does not include our development players.

Now if this does happen are you sure that we could still play the likes of Stefano??

    • It appears to me that the Development Players are additional to the 30 but I'm not certain of that. I guess we'll find out after 30 June

  • Good blog. Leleisuiao has been in the top 30 for two years what is his chances of getting a start next week seeing Hoffman and fergo are injured? I can't see fergo making the origin or the team next week he is really playing injured. Looks to be in a lot of pain. Who comes in if stone is injured?

    • Just keep Takarangi, Smith, Alvaro, Moeroa and Jennings out lol

      • One would think that they will be gone.
